If you’re a traditional man and provider type, this isn’t a problem, but a benefit to your family unit. Japanese women generally have realistic expectations, but expect for you to take that lead role as a provider of the family. Take care of them and they care of you tenfold. Fuck up, be lazy, you will hear about it. It’s no bullshit straight talk that actually works and doesn’t let resentment build. In public, you’ll learn the nuances of Japanese passive aggressiveness (it’s actually pretty savage and comical if you’re not on the receiving end). Your kids will be disciplined but also cared for and attended to. Japanese “love” can be colder and not as expressive as American relationships, but you learn how it’s shown differently. On the flip side, you have someone fiercely loyal and dedicated to you and your family who wants the best for your family if you build their trust and respect. Lots of men I’ve met who have failed relationships or marriages with Japanese women don’t fit the provider type or too used to American style relationships where they are too focused on themselves and do not think of their partner and family first.
