@goblin_formula This doesn't make sense. In this case, if I say I want to convince a merchant to give me a discount, and roll a 1, am I obligated to rp my PC just shitting themselves? Doesn't it make more sense for the RP to happen before the roll and the DM sets the DC based on the arguments?

This only happens because you and everyone else has been taught how to play D&D wrong. The correct order of operations is declaring what you want to do, rolling, and then role-playing the result of the roll. Your example proves why the other way around is a manifestly bad idea.

Dice in DND is asking the universe for an impartial decision to inject spontaneity into a scenario neither player nor DM can predict. The mental cost of a bad role after great RP feels like a punishment, and the table now has to react to a number rather than the narrative.

So I've been scrolling through X for a while now, and one thing I find odd is that a lot of people blame AI for the increase in RAM price. I agree to some extent, but AI doesn't just randomly create this, someone decides to make it. And that someone is often a third-world retard pumping out clickbait garbage for other third-world retard. So who does it serve? Clearly other third-world retards. The whole problem was never about AI. It's undoubtedly a first-world invention, yet it's being made to serve third-world retards. The solution is obvious: IP-block third-worlders from creating these slop shit videos and gatekeep the tech. But instead, I see so many dimwits saying, "Oh, it's all because of AI, destroy all AI." I've been ignoring it, but damn, if you think this is purely an AI problem, you might belong to the NPC class.
