Since 2016, a dedicated team of Baylor faculty and students has been uncovering the secrets of this ancient society through the San Giuliano Project (SGARP). The Mayborn’s newest exhibit, Etruscan Legacy, explores the rich history and fascinating discoveries of Barbarano Romano!
Approximately 5,650 miles away lies the picturesque village of Barbarano Romano. This charming village, dating back to the 10th century, remains encircled by its original medieval walls. Yet, beneath its quaint exterior lies an even older civilization: the Etruscans.
Trivia Time❓
This ancient alabastron vessel depicts a fight scene between two men, and is currently on view in our “Etruscan Legacy” exhibit. In ancient Etruria, this vessel would have been used for:
1. Wine Decanter
2. Perfume
3. Fish Sauce
4. Workout Water Bottle
Happy 20th birthday, @MaybornMuseum! 🥳
To celebrate two decades of sparking curiosity, the Mayborn unveiled a life-size landmark: bronze sculptures of three mammoths based on specimens found at the nearby @WacoMammoth National Monument:

Herons typically lay eggs in late winter or early spring, coinciding with the breeding season. Nest construction is a group activity, with both males and females participating in building the nest. If you are careful, you can spot a Heron nest along the banks of the Brazos River.
During the breeding season, Great Blue Herons gather in colonies or heronries, where they engage in elaborate courtship displays and nest-building activities. These colonies, often located in secluded wetland areas or on coastal islands, provide protection from predators.
While the museum will be closed Friday through Monday for the Easter holiday, our Collections team wanted to share a snapshot from our egg collection. 🥚
Can you guess which of these eggs belongs to a Great Blue Heron?🔍 #Mayborn20#MaybornCollections
