Good news, DC! Outdoor pool season has officially begun. ‌ 17 outdoor pools and 35 spray parks are open today through Monday 10AM-6PM. ‌ While rain is in the forecast, pools will open as long as conditions remain safe for lifeguards to monitor and as long as there is no lightning.

We just reinstated a limited juvenile curfew under a new emergency order in Washington, DC. Here's how that impacts residents: 1.⁠ ⁠Effective tonight, 5/22, all youth under the age of 18 are subject to a 11PM citywide curfew. 2.⁠ ⁠Designated zones will be subject to an 8PM curfew as determined by the Chief of Police. 3.⁠ ⁠The curfew will extend through 6/6. This order is an emergency tool that will address the next 15 days to preserve safety and protect peace in our community.

We're celebrating 35 years of DC Black Pride this weekend in Washington, DC. An important milestone, and a testament to the enduring power of DC's Black LGBTQIA+ communities. My full proclamation:

7 years ago today, we shared exciting news: Lidl would be coming to Skyland Town Center. And last week, we cut the ribbon at a community park just a block away from the now-open Lidl. We're proud to continue delivering amenities, opportunities, and jobs to Ward 7.

Four years ago today, we hit an important milestone: 100+ miles of bike lanes in Washington, DC. Today, that number has grown to 123 miles—including 43 miles of protected bike lanes—making DC one of the most bike-friendly cities in the nation.
