A girl, 17, was allegedly raped and murdered in her home in Bhekulwandle, Amanzimtoti, on 26 February 2024. It is alleged that when the parents arrived home, they saw an unknown man running out of the house with a backpack. Once they entered the house, they found the girl’s naked body with several stab wounds to her body. The father rushed the girl to the hospital, but while on his way, two of the car’s tyres burst, and the girl passed away in the vehicle due to her severe injuries. Shereen Mathey was allegedly murdered by her partner at her home in Pietermaritzburg on 26 February 2024. It is alleged that Shereen was found with her throat slit and multiple stab wounds on her body. Her partner, Azad Ebrahim, was found dead in another room of the house, having apparently hanged himself.
