#Bootle Central Fire Station, Strand Road, opened on the 13th April 1904. Built on site previously occupied by Cartlands Circus. The buildings cost £38,000 and included accommodation for 20 married and 10 single men. The hose-drying tower and look-out was originally 100ft high

It’s shithouse behaviour but now I’ve had time to reflect.. He’s 17?? ‘Someone’ needs to grip him and have a word. Superstar status, money and everyone kissing his arse is a recipe for disaster in life and this is a small example. Dad? Mum? Manager? Peers? Needs to happen.

If you're having to read people's lips when you're in social situations or there's a bit in a song that you know is there but you can't quite pick it out, don't be a dick. Go and get your hearing tested and get some hearing aids. No one cares and it'll change your life.

Well, the Dutch don't exactly discourage you, but in 20 years of being able to speak Dutch, I have had precisely one Dutch person actually converse with me in Dutch and not speak English even when I'm clearly wanting to speak Dutch 😭😭

@mpalmond At the risk of sounding rather old... how do you read for a History degree without books ? I noticed the last time I was in Oxford the faculty library on Catte Street was gone, I didn't realise the books had gone too.

"The kids don't read books anymore," was how an Oxford History Faculty librarian justified tossing so much stock into a skip around the time new undergraduates were born.
