I’d say we’re looking pretty good right now, just not 100%.

Early morning vent ahead of play followed by a light topdress, 1.75” of rain yesterday.

@jminceyturf I got in it because I wanted to learn how to golf and the only job was on the maintenance team on a course back home. But after working for @preinhardtgcs in college I felt like I was decent at it. I didn’t originally pursue it after college, but it all fell together.

Here’s a great QOTD that I’m curious to hear everybody’s answer to. QOTD: What got you into the turf industry? What was that one moment that happened that made you decide that this is the career you wanted to pursue? (Enjoy this graphic photo of Max🙂)

Cooler weather and rain gave us a window to punch some holes in these greens. They’ve had a long summer so far so it’s nice to let them breathe for a bit. Followed with a heavier rate of topdressing sand.

Have had a rough early summer so far but we’re making progress. Greens are still good but other factors we are still working to improve. Team has done a great job especially with putting up with the tedious tasks necessary to make the improvements.

Just a few of the things that have been in progress during our extended course closure to make improvements. Still have a long way to go.

Using small flags really help when trying to adjust our fans. To where we need more air flow

Our seasoned irrigation tech made it happen. Took out a head that’s not needed around the nursery and added a quick coupler in for hand watering. 2 other heads hit this green and it’s the size of your living room so it’s easy

@jminceyturf I do the same thing, I think we’re both learning and we learn from those time where we think “yeah I probably should’ve gone with my gut on that” and store it in the memory bank and keep notes for the next similar circumstance

QOTD: What advice would you give to a younger superintendent who knows the science but struggles with trusting their gut?

Anyone ever research low friction sprays on a lely spreader to help reduce the build up when spreading fertilizer? Had it build up bad today and we had to stop after a couple of hoppers. My quick research saw that tungsten disulfide can be used as a “dry lubricant”, any thoughts?

Overseeded rough at the range fading in to the tee looks really good right now.

Gotta love spring

Took a break from the course for a couple of days while we have some nice weather

Work smarter not harder. We’re bringing Pinestraw edges out a little more for areas that are out of reach from irrigation and shaded. Got a box blade making quick work of this

The shower and eyewash was more of a hassle than it needed to be but it’s up plus some new stainless steel tables and a sink installed and plumbed up.
