The Patchwork Meadow

Trees are not usually our thing, but when, thanks to @nationaltrust we had the chance to plant these in Ladywood, we couldn't miss the opportunity. So glad we did.

It was a cold one this week, making mini-meadows in egg-boxes, at @ecobirmingham Young Bunch at the Big Red Shed, but the campfire definitely helped and the food was amazing.

Thanks to funding from the Bupa Foundation (Groundworks) we ran a workshop with Natural England, for 14 community organisations, providing information about pocket meadows, biodiversity and pollinators, and giving each one 100 square metres of wildflower seeds to sow locally.

Great to be part of 'Growing Our Hall Green Future' at the weekend, arranged by @ecobirmingham. Lots of ideas were shared about where pocket meadows could be sown.

Lovely to end this year's sowing session with @ecobirmingham and young people from the Springfield Project, brightening up Eucalyptus Corner in Sparkhill. Many thanks to @SpringfieldWMP who came along to help as well. Look out for a display of wildflowers here next spring.

We had such an enjoyable time at Sunnybank Fields Allotments today, sowing a pocket meadow in the community garden. Finding 3 centipedes was an additional treat!

We thought we'd celebrate #LoveParksWeek by sharing some of the pocket meadows we have sown in Birmingham parks.

You never know who is going to visit our stall when we are at events. Kids always enjoy our bee activity trail but it is very hard to compete with Noodle, Nugget and Perry!
