@SAFCsource Spend a lot of time in Almeria and visited Oasis theme park. Amazing as I grew up with the old Clint Eastwood westerns and had no idea they were filmed in Spain. I mean spaghetti western suggests Italy but I guess it’s because the director was Italian?

@Meb1965 It was, yeah. The actual main actor in it Terence Hill was in loads of old spaghetti westerns.

@CoreyYaps @VLC176 Remember if you spend 50 million on a player on a 5 year contract it’s only counted as 10 million per year due to amortisation. Admittedly that takes 10 million out of the budget for 5 years but it means we can preload the squad now when we need it.

@VLC176 Yeah but do you not think you can get 6 or 7 quality players for £100m?

@Meb1965 @Tpljp1966 @ALS_Fanzine I found 3 got worse after the merger. I've never had issues with the Vodafone network, Vodafone customer service on the other hand...

The most unbelievable thing that happened yesterday was Ballard phone getting a signal in the ground. Mine never worked all season

@Tpljp1966 @ALS_Fanzine I was on 3, recently changed to talkmobile (Vodafone) and I got a great signal, the guy next to me on O2 did as well. I think EE and 3 don't work in the stadium. Even had enough to watch replays on Now

@zeninguem67 @DPMcBride That can be misleading for example Sunderland sold out but they lose seats due to segregation so that distorts %. Now actual attendance (not including tickets sold that don’t turn up) would be more interesting as there seem to be lots of empty seats in most grounds

Here's the end-of-season list for the highest average attendances in English league football. For the third year running, The Arsenal are the only club with two teams on the list, with Arsenal Women gaining the most places compared to last year, followed by Coventry and Everton.

@footballontnt To every rule, there's an exception and Sunderland is the exception in this case. They utterly dismantled xG as a prediction tool

@KieranMaguire @nytimes We went to SA WC in 2010. There were thousands of hotel rooms available as FIFA had dictated the rate to charge promising big returns. Many had upgraded their facilities. When no one paid the price as too high FIFA dumped them and left them out of pocket. They’ll never learn

@RobRaine180 @TheAthleticFC Club didn't disclose but £15-20m has been ballpark for plenty in recent years. #SAFC wage bill was £31.4m in 23-24 so seems about right

Leeds marched to promotion last season with record Championship revenues but also one of the most highly paid squads in second tier history. 49ers Enterprises have provided £255m funding in two seasons. 2024-25 accounts analysis @TheAthleticFC nytimes.com/athletic/71638…

@SwissRamble @KieranMaguire I’m guessing that doesn’t include player sales though as I believe Sunderland only lost around 4m getting promoted?

The situation looks even worse at the operating level (excluding profit on player sales, interest and exceptional items), where not a single club has reported a profit. Average operating losses: Premier League £66.7m, Championship £25.5m, League One £6.2m, League Two £2.8m.

Just over half of the 92 clubs in top 4 divisions in England have published 2024/25 accounts. Only 4 are profitable: Liverpool, Bournemouth, Plymouth Argyle and Peterborough United. Average pre-tax losses: PL £31.1m, Championship £15.1m, League One £5.0m, League Two £2.6m.

@TheFootblLawyer I know so why should footy fans get a football ban and gig fans don’t get a gig ban? Or rugby fans a rugby ban? Or horseracing etc etc
