Medical Aid International has a long term relationship with the UK Military delivering practical and classroom based learning. It was a pleasure for our CEO to deliver a day's training on LMIC healthcare to the Royal Navy Emergency Department and Critical Care nurses last week.

Our CEO is really excited to be heading to the World Health Assembly in Geneva (starting 18thMay) with his long-time friend Adele, CEO of International Health Partners. It’s great to be part of such an important global gathering. #WHA79

It is so great to see the team are ready to learn and make a difference at their hospital, and we look forward to supporting them throughout their biomedical engineering training journeys!

Our latest cohort is getting started in Ethiopia, with each student receiving a resource package to help them directly apply what they are learning. This includes a comprehensive professional toolkit, set of textbooks, a digital library of service manuals, and workplace attire.

We are privileged to be able to train biomedical engineers from around the world using our proven online biomedical engineering training programme.

It has been fantastic to be part of this project from the outset, and we look forward to working with and supporting the hospital for many more years to come.

For instance, by providing the biomedical engineering support from the outset, this facilitated the installation of the newly received ceiling light by our trained biomedical engineers, who completed the work confidently and quickly.

One of the most exciting aspects of our work is that we are privileged to watch projects evolve and see their direct impact on patients. As we mentioned last week, one of our latest projects is supporting and equipping a trauma centre in Africa.

It is great to see this equipment being sent where it is needed most. Not only that, it is also tailored to the LMIC environment, extremely high-quality, and built to last. Look out for our post next week where we’ll share how the installation of the equipment is going!

The focus was on supplying a series of medical equipment to support a trauma centre in Africa we previously fully equipped. Included as part of the shipment was an autoclave, air purifiers, mattresses, as well as a ceiling light.

It is fantastic that through our projects we get to work with such a wide range of organisations across numerous countries around the globe. As a result of this work, and thanks to generous funding, we are pleased to say our latest shipment recently arrived at its destination.

We have supplied equipment there previously, and they are able to treat severe burns such as this. We are pleased to say, after a month in hospital he made a very good recovery.

Also pictured is a child after receiving treatment for severe burns. Tim came across him in a remote hospital in Uganda; it had taken his mother 8 hours to bring her child to the hospital. Tim drove them to the fantastic CoRSU hospital in Kampala.

Burns are a truly devastating issue in LMICs – a condition where urgent surgical treatment can be lifesaving and dramatically reduce the extremely severe disfigurement that can occur.
