Just published! This review highlights the limited data on the safety of alcohol pharmacotherapies in pregnancy. Balancing untreated AUDs against the medication-related risks is key to supporting the pregnant individual & developing child. @UWAresearch doi.org/10.1007/s40263…

These are called ‘add-on’ therapies and are usually taken with metformin, the first-line treatment for T2DM. There are 2 types: SGLT2 inhibitors and GLP-1 RA. Starting these add-on therapies early is crucial to maximise heart and kidney benefits for people with type 2 DM. 2/4

Over 1M Australians are living with T2DM, but it is heart and kidney disease that are the major causes of death and sickness. There are diabetes medicines available that can also protect their hearts and kidneys, and potentially save lives, but many are missing out. 🧵1/4

Congratulations @EbonyQuintrell on your first PhD paper being published. Ebony also won the People's Choice award at our recent MI-CRE Symposium for her presentation on this work. A rising star in MI-CRE!

Chuffed to see @EbonyQuintrell first PhD paper available online. The paper highlights huge time lags between the onset of #alcohol dependence and treatment, as well as a huge underutilisation of medications. Congrats EQ! doi.org/10.1093/alcalc…
