This is a parody account but allow me one serious tweet. A story you may know but one I was shamefully unaware of until recently. #BlackLivesMatter

In my 7 days on one of our (now 12!) non ICU #COVID19 units, I admitted 58 patients for COVID rule out, of whom 50 tested positive. Two died (DNR), 2 went to hospice, and 5 went to the ICU. That is… not my typical gen med service week. Following, some clinical observations.

Reflections on today. 1. The #Nightingale hospital has some of the most effective medical leaders I’ve ever encountered. 2. The pace of activity in the @nhs is immense 3. Staff on the front line are not just doing their jobs and are indeed heroes. 4. Staff who aren’t on the 1/2

1/ I've just tested positive for COVID-19. I'm an ED registrar in London who has treated many patients with COVID. I'm learning that it can present in a variety of ways. I thought it would be useful to post about my symptoms so far, in the interests of better understanding.

Dear Emergency Medicine colleagues, When this mess is over, you can all order as many absurd CT scans as you want and I won’t even read the indications before clicking accept. Keep up the amazing work. You are heroes.

Last week I got my first experience as a @The_PCP mentor when a 3rd year student joined me for 2 shifts. A great opportunity to teach and build confidence in their knowledge/management of cases, whilst being challenged myself with their questions. An experience all should have!

Something you don’t want to see in a hyperkalaemic patient! Sine waves are considered a pre-terminal event and VF cardiac arrest is likely to follow imminently

The P wave on an ECG represents atrial depolarisation. The QRS complex shows ventricular depolarisation and the T wave represents ventricular repolarisation. Atrial repolarisation occurs during the time of the QRS complex as the ventricles depolarise. #MedTweets

Digoxin is a cardiac glycoside used for rate control in AF (Atrial Fibrillation). It works by decreasing conduction through the AV node, slowing the ventricular rate. It also inhibits the Na+/K+/ATPase pump - increasing the force of cardiac muscle contractions #MedTweets
