As we celebrate Women's History Month this March, Medford Firefighters Local 1032 is proud to recognize the remarkable contributions of Barrault and Associates, a group of fierce advocates for labor rights. These women have not only made history but continue to shape it through their unwavering dedication and commitment to representing and fighting for the rights of workers. We are fortunate to have them as friends and counsel.

This International Women's Day, Local 1032 would like to recognize our sisters who are continuously breaking barriers and advancing the fire service. Within our own department, we want to acknowledge the three hardest working individuals: Linda, Debbie, and Danielle. These women unquestionably keep our department running and could not function without them. Thank you! #internationalwomensday #local1032 #firefightrers #medfordma

Speaking to MassLive earlier today about the wages owed to our members, Local 1032 President Walter Buckley said, “It’s just really disheartening. I have met and spoken with the mayor multiple times over the last week and a half and I want to try and build a positive relationship but that doesn’t seem to be her top priority. Our firefighters deserve their back wages and all we keep getting are excuses about new delays. It’s beyond frustrating.” masslive.com/news/2024/03/m…

Earlier this afternoon, our attorneys from Barrault and Associates LLC on behalf of Medford Firefighters IAFF Local 1032 President Walter Edward Buckley, filed a complaint in Middlesex Superior Court seeking relief against Mayor Breanna Longo-Koehn and the City of Medford for the overdue and unpaid wages and other compensation owed to President Buckley and over 100 members of Local 1032. “The members of Local 1032 deserve to be respected, and that starts with paying them fairly. This Mayor and the City have held wages hostage and refused to compensate over 100 of our firefighters for pay as far back as 2021. When the Mayor plays dumb and wonders why morale is at an all-time low in this department, this should serve as a clear example. Our firefighters deserve to be treated with dignity and our hope is this legal action will force the City to take steps towards recognizing the hard work and service that our members provide daily to the residents of Medford,” said President Buckley. This evening, Medford firefighters fought a stubborn three-alarm fire in a two family home, at the corner of Riverside Avenue and Pleasant Street. Additional resources and tactics were needed due fire burning within hidden void spaces and internal staircases/floors being burned-out. The fire was contained to the structure and did not extend to any other homes. There are no reported injuries at this time. Our partners at Malden Fire, Chelsea Fire, Somerville Fire, Arlington Fire were on scene working with us. Back up coverage for the City was provided by Everett Fire, Stoneham Fire, and Revere Fire. Medford PD diverted traffic. Armstrong Ambulance were on EMS standby. Canteen and rehab service were provided by the Boston Sparks A-10. #local1032 #medfordma #fire #firefighters #pffm Photos: P.
