@sistoney67 @ManUtd Often hear this argument but think Ander Herrera is overlooked in this conversation a technical, talented midfielder who wouldn’t have looked out of place in most top sides, earning a move to PSG at the tail end of his career.

@FrankEra_ Why does the club needs to make you feel better when the most important thing is to find players that want to play for the badge & suits the manager playstyle 😂

Look.. if Ederson really is £35M (rising to £38M) on a £75,000 week salary *financially* it’s not a terrible deal. Buy 2 other TOP midfielders and United fans (including myself) will feel a lot better about the deal. INEOS have probably earned the right to be trusted overall.

@Ash1shme @analyzingfutbol Mad take. Ederson is only 27, entering his peak with champions league experience & also an Europa league winner that defeated an unbeaten Leverkusen in 23/24 season. You speak like he’s 33, playing football at your house backyard

@ronaldobrownn_ Sunderland was expected to be relegated & spent less than Newcastle yet now Sunderland is in Europa league. While Newcastle isn’t even in Europe. Big signings don’t guarantee success.. Same thing happened at Liverpool. The correct player profile is important

Just can’t shake the gut feeling about the Ederson signing, not a big fan of it. Feels like a capped return on investment, without a long term picture. United are in a position to make a big stride forward. Signings like him are how you only take baby steps.
Mfalsafa@mfalsafa_

When I watched Ederson in the past three seasons, the things that stood out to me were his running capabilities and engine. Covers a lot of ground defensively and never stops tracking back. In the final 1/3, he makes a lot of exceptional runs into the box and into open space. Gives you a G/A threat and an indirect creative one via the separation his off-ball runs create - that’s why I pretty much said in a different comment you’ll notice a lot of “McTominayness” about him in the final 1/3 and box. Defensively, I thought his positioning and game intelligence as a sitter that can hold the midfield together wasn’t really a strong attribute of his. Was never a huge fan of the way he defends large spaces when team is transitioning. But he does have good awareness, timing, and anticipation to sniff out danger and break out the play. On the ball, I felt he was a bit underwhelming. Never struck me as a strong progressive passer (not outstanding either in general play). I mean he can cross from wide but he’s mostly a reliable circulator and recycler of play. Not really a secondary controller/creator type of profile. In buildup, didn’t see him as a reliable exit point that can withstand pressure and turn comfortably when pressed. But I did like the fact that he allows you to build out from the back with bounce passes (good alternative). Has the physical stature required in midfield, stride length to cover ground and reclaim the ball from fast runners, and tank to keep running for a full 90. Not a particularly bad player. In my opinion, he’s being considered as a a strong candidate at United because of his versatility - what he offers as a runner and ground coverage as a ball-winner.

I will make a more comprehensive post on this later — but signing Ederson has the added benefit that it improves our negotiation position in relation to other midfield targets. Simply — negotiations are extremely simple. They are all about ”leverage”. Hence, negotiations are all about selecting when you negotiate and the position you are in when you negotiate. We will never get good deals for Ugarte and Onana because we have zero leverage. We are in a much better position to negotiate a decent deal for Matheus Fernandes because West Ham got relegated which gives us leverage. To be able to enter negotiations when it suits you — you need time and flexibility. We never have either. Newcastle were in a horrible position leverage-wise when they signed Woltemade and Wissa. They had ran out of time. Without Ederson or our first CM signing — pannick is around the corner. The summer will fly by with the World Cup. Any selling club can stall a transfer which just will put more pressure on United. Everyone will try to push us into the same corner Newcastle ended up in last summer. Get in Ederson and Fernandes and everyone wanting to go to MUFC will have to start to think of things from a fear of missing out perspective. From a Tchoumani POV, we have 3 midfielders to sign. He can take his time. If Fernandes and Ederson get done — it’s 1 spot and all it takes is another deal to get done and the door is shut. In this context —

🚨 Man Utd's plan to sign a marquee midfielder is not expected to be altered by Ederson's potential arrival. Chiefs at Old Trafford have earmarked significant investment to sign a successor to Casemiro. [@StevenRailston] #MUFC

@chrisoguguoo @cainsmithMU They thought Arsenal won the PL with just one £100mil, Declan Rice. 6/7 of Arteta signed players this season, played avg 24 matches in the PL. the rotation & squad depth helped them to the champions league final too.

@cainsmithMU There's something called 'squad depth'. If Mount is staying and United are signing 2-3 new midfielders, it means the squad depth improves There'll be four competitions to play for next season and you need a big squad to account for injuries, fatigue, and rotations

Might be cope but the way Carrick wants to play does give Mount a decent chance of performing when he’s on the pitch. His best asset is prob being able to help in those quick passing moves like for Mbeumo’s goal. Problem is where he’s getting those minutes and who over, esp after we sign 2/3 midfielders

🚨 | Michael Carrick is known to think the positional flexibility of Mason Mount and Noussair Mazraoui is beneficial to his #mufc squad heading into a campaign of four competitions. [@lauriewhitwell]

If you're going to sign "proven" players: ❌minimal to no adaptation period needed ❌consistent standout at PL/UCL level ❌great market opportunity at lower cost ❌perfect fit for the squad/team I do not see the point in signing him, at all.

Blocking all the Man Utd “fan” accounts deliberately farming engagements by posting negative comments on the club recruiting Ederson without even some proper common sense in place. Have some shame.
