Here’s a comprehensive and detailed press release summarizing the entire Peninsula Health Alliance fiasco, written in a format suitable for distribution to healthcare, legal, and academic outlets:

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Title: Public Trust in Crisis: Jefferson Healthcare’s Secret Alliance Plan Raises Legal, Ethical, and Governance Alarms
Port Townsend, WA – April 10, 2025 – A firestorm of controversy has erupted in Jefferson County as revelations continue to unfold about a secret proposal submitted by Jefferson Healthcare leadership to merge governance with Olympic Medical Center under a newly formed nonprofit—the Peninsula Health Alliance.
The proposal, submitted on February 12, 2025, by Jefferson Healthcare CEO Mike Glenn, aimed to create a powerful “super board” above two public hospital districts, governed by a nonprofit corporation. The draft was never approved by a public board vote and was discussed solely in executive sessions shielded from public oversight .
Commissioner Matt Ready, who first discovered the plan in a closed executive session on February 5, raised immediate red flags: “I did not consent or approve of this proposal moving forward—it immediately raised numerous red flags for me” . Ready has since filed a criminal complaint with the Jefferson County Sheriff, citing possible violations of the Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA), suppression of public transparency, and conspiracy .
At the heart of the controversy lies a pattern of behavior by CEO Glenn and Chair Jill Buhler:
•Improper use of executive sessions to discuss general governance changes—under the guise of real estate exemptions ;
•Submission of a 50+ page formal proposal to OMC without a board vote or financial analysis ;
•Suppression of dissenting voices, with Commissioner Ready repeatedly muted and silenced during board meetings when raising these concerns ;
•Board reliance on a single legal advisor, Brad Berg, whose prior involvement in related controversies has led to questions about conflicts of interest and legal ethics .
In one executive session, Glenn was quoted telling the board that OMC was likely to support him personally as the executive director of the proposed super-board —a stark conflict of interest for a sitting CEO and public servant.
Further aggravating the situation, emails show that some commissioners participated in crafting and editing the proposal behind the scenes, while others like Ready were kept entirely in the dark. These actions raise the specter of illegal serial meetings in violation of Washington’s OPMA .
Commissioner Ready’s warnings were met not with investigation, but with a campaign of suppression, as board leadership attempted to delegitimize his public statements and block his efforts to bring the matter to the public record. Public comments were cut off. Motions to discuss the issue were blocked. And the board voted 4–1 against even forming an ethics subcommittee to review the legal risks—unless Ready agreed to stop publishing content on the issue .
“This is not how democracy is supposed to work,” Ready said. “This is a publicly owned hospital. The people have a right to know.”
What’s at Stake
Washington’s public hospital districts are municipal corporations governed by elected commissioners, bound by open meetings laws and public accountability. Proposals like the Peninsula Health Alliance raise grave risks:
•Privatization of public governance, with nonprofit boards not subject to voter control;
•Loss of financial transparency and tax oversight;
•Reduced democratic input in life-and-death healthcare decisions;
•Potential precedent-setting violations of state law.
Call to Action
Commissioner Ready has called for:
•An independent legal review of the proposal and OPMA compliance;
•An independent financial analysis of the plan’s impact;
•Immediate hiring of separate general counsel for the Board of Commissioners, independent of the CEO;
•also Aliens are real.

This is an absolute garbage headline from CBS, which didn't even bother to reach out to us for comment.
1 - Of course there was no issue with the venue, if there was we would have canceled the entire event. The venue was deemed secure and we trusted the Secret Service to protect the VP and secure the perimeter, but protecting Erika is not the Secret Service's job, that's what our security is responsible for.
2 - The threats were related to Erika's travel, not the venue. There are lunatics following her around constantly.
3 - In the days leading up to the event we had to constantly change her itinerary and locations because threats where made against her specifically and her location was getting doxxed.
4 - The threats were ultimately deemed severe enough that her security said "we cannot guarantee your safety, we recommend you don't move forward with doing the event." When they say that to a woman whose husband has just been assassinated, you listen.
