@RachelReevesMP £500 a year better off? What planet are you living on! All utilities⬆️ council tax⬆️ cost of food⬆️ rents⬆️ plus all the knock on effects of employer NI increases. If people have almost no disposable income it means less taxes via VAT going into the coffers. Basic economics!!

@RupertLowe10 I live on the very edge of Makerfield and we've been shoved to the sidelines and forgotten for far too long! I was hoping, and praying, that we would have a Restore candidate to get behind. Best thing ever!!

What a day in Makerfield. The enthusiasm and support on the ground is possibly even stronger than in Great Yarmouth, it is quite remarkable. I did not expect it to be that level, to be honest. 250 locals at our branch meeting last night with standing room only. We barely even advertised it. Just to members because of limited space. Rebecca gave a great speech, went down so well. Out meeting local campaign groups, community centres, pubs - support right across Makerfield. Simply amazing. These people want their country back, and we are giving them a genuine democratic alternative. Thousands and thousands of local patriots are going to take it. Restore Britain is going to make history in Makerfield.

A jar of Bovril sat on the kitchen shelf of every British household between approximately 1900 and 1995. It was beef extract. Concentrated cattle, in a small brown jar, the colour of treacle, the consistency of marmite, but with a savoury depth that came from the actual stock pot of an actual abattoir in Burton-upon-Trent. A teaspoon of Bovril stirred into a mug of hot water was a hot drink on a cold afternoon. A teaspoon stirred into the gravy gave a Sunday dinner an extra dimension. A teaspoon spread on toast was a snack a small boy ate after school while his father did the football coupon. Bovril was carried in the kit bags of British soldiers in two world wars, advertised on every railway station for a century, and once endorsed by Pope Leo XIII, which is the only product in history to carry the line "Bovril, the two infallible powers, the Pope and Bovril." Unilever acquired it in 2000. Reformulated it in 2004 as a yeast extract for the vegetarian market. Reformulated it back to beef in 2006 after the resulting outcry. Now produced in a factory in Burton-upon-Trent in much smaller quantities. It is still on the shelf in most supermarkets. Most British children have never tasted it. The mug of Bovril at half-time at the football, the hot drink on the touchline at the rugby, the hot drink before a long walk in the Lakes, has been quietly replaced by a Costa flat white from a paper cup. The cup is empty in twenty minutes. The mug of Bovril used to last the second half.

@JamesEsses Came out of the Mayoral Precept that I, and every other council tax payer, pay every year. Up to £300 per household of which a percentage is for him to spend on "community causes". Where's the money gone? No improvements, things have only gotten worse in my town.

@BasilTheGreat On the way back from shopping today I saw many Liebourites knocking on doors in the area touting on behalf of Burnham. They didn't seem to be getting much joy from what I could see, just kept being sent away and getting wet through in the rain.

Hello @ZackPolanski @MothinAli @rachelmillward … please do comment. This is important. Here is footage taken at ‘Let Women Speak’ in Sheffield. A large group of men had to be held back from attacking women assembled to speak and listen to each other. One man was arrested for assaulting Kellie Jay Keen with soup. Here in the group of men singing “fuck you, fuck you very very much - we hate what you do and we hate your whole crew” at women is your new Cllr in Sheffield @Thomas_Atkin_1 - tall man with ginger hair waving proudly. He is also your ‘International Officer for LGBTQIA’. Would you comment on his appropriateness to represent women and in particular lesbian and bisexual women?

@KingBobIIV Isn't that why parents get child benefit or family allowance as it used to be called? Every penny that I received went on my two kids, it paid for things they needed. Breakfast was just normal costs of bringing up children.

Same as the UK. "Free Breakfasts" is around £3.50 a day, per child. When a parent feeding their own child with toast, porridge or cereal is only around 12p per day, per child. All OUR government are doing is stealing tax payer money, off those who work, to hand to their mates who own companies that do catering and food supply, paying them massively over the odds to provide something that could be done more efficiently and cheaper by the parents. They then all have shares and vote promises from these companies and get to virtue signal about how THEY have provided "FREE" food for children. Its ALL bullshit.

@GoodwinMJ I couldn't stop laughing when I read the news. She does sweet sod all for my town and is spewing out the usual excuses that it's because of the previous government that this has happened. One of the once safest Liebour councils, so safe that trained chimps could do better.

A police officer accused of killing a woman in a fatal collision said he believed she was 'yielding to him' as he pursued a stolen Audi A3. PC Mark Burrows, 46, is on trial for causing death by dangerous driving following the death of Heather Smedley in December 2022. The charge followed an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), which said that an unmarked police car had been in pursuit of an Audi A3 that officers believed was stolen. The police car collided with a Peugeot 108 at the junction of Oldham Road and Otmoor Way in Royton, the IOPC said. Ms Smedley, the driver of the Peugeot, died at the scene just two days before Christmas in December 2022. Mr Burrows, who was described as a serving police constable with Greater Manchester Police, denies the offence and is facing trial at Chester Crown Court. The court previously heard that he was on duty and driving a 'high-powered', unmarked Volkswagen Golf R. He has been a member of GMP's Tactical Vehicle Intercept Unit since 2012, it was said. Giving evidence, Mr Burrows said he had completed training for tactical pursuit driving and had worked as an advanced police driver since 2011. He said on December 23, 2022, he had been deployed to Oldham to reports of a suspected stolen Ford Fiesta, alongside two other unmarked vehicles and one marked police car. He told the court that whilst making observations at the roundabout at Shaw Road after a suspect driving a stolen Ford Fiesta had left the area in a different vehicle, he saw an Audi A3 overtake his colleague's vehicle at speed on the roundabout. "As he started the overtake, I thought 'that must be stolen'. I gave the first four digits of the registration plate to my colleague who checked and confirmed it was stolen," he said. Mr Burrows said a plan was put in place for his colleague to deploy a stinger on Salmon Fields whilst he pursued the Audi A3. He said he was positioned across the white lines of Shaw Road to allow for maximum visibility during the pursuit. As he turned right onto Cocker Mill Lane, the Audi A3 drove past him in the opposite direction at speed, and he did a 180 degree manoeuvre before pursuing it, he told jurors. The pursuit continued onto Oldham Road, with the Audi reaching speeds of 76mph, the jury heard. In the moments leading up to the crash, the court heard Mr Burrows' Golf reached speeds of over 80mph on the opposite side of the road. He told the court that a red Corsa, that was travelling in front of him, indicated to the left and braked as it moved to the left side of the road. He confirmed he had activated his emergency equipment, including blue lights and siren, to alert other road users to his presence. He also said he was in an 'elevated position', and had positioned his car in the centre of the road to have full view of the Audi A3. Asked about Mrs Smedley's Peugeot, he said: "I saw the brake lights come on, they went off and then came on again strongly. I believed she had seen me and was adhering to the Highway Code and yielding to me." Samuel Green KC, representing Mr Burrows, said that video footage showed that Mrs Smedley's vehicle did not move to the left side of the road. "With the benefit of hindsight, the road starts to narrow - I believed she was moving to the near side. I was trying to give them [the other vehicles] the best chance of seeing me, and giving myself the best chance of seeing the suspect vehicle," said Mr Burrows. "I positioned myself on the white lines. I scanned left and right for any potential hazards." He said after overtaking the Corsa, he took his foot off the accelerator and covered the brake before going to 'pick up' the accelerator again. He said just one second later the picture 'completely changed'. Continued…
