Roughly a year ago today I started down what was one of the worst times in my life. There was times were I did not know if I was going to be able to keep going. Looking back I appreciate how many friends, and even some folks I barely knew who checked in on me.

The DDP team traveled to Toronto to accept an @RGD award for our work with the Office of the Commissioner of Indigenous Languages (OCIL). OCIL was established to address the declining use of Indigenous languages in Canada. We're honoured to be among this year's winners!

The bear said to the hummingbird “why are you trying? You’re so small what difference can you make?” And the humming bird replied “I’m doing my best”. Today I will continue to do my best and also give myself grace that my abilities today are different than my usual and be okay.

The story goes that there was a great forest fire and all of the animals were running away from the fire. The humming bird stayed and was bringing one droplet of water at a time trying to put out the fire.

I’m excited to be speaking today about Accessibility in Branding at #RGDDT but unfortunately I have laryngitis which is also going to make today very hard. Today I woke up reflecting on the Indigenous story of the hummingbird.

Technology needs to be more inclusive of Indigenous languages. It’s amazing to see this happening with Apple products.
