There are three doors a child walks through that will determine their future: the front door of the home, the front door of the school, and the front door of the place of worship. If those three doors are not aligned, it impacts a child’s education and future. Today, 50% of our kids cannot read at grade level. Republicans have abandoned public education, Democrats have abandoned standards and accountability, and our kids are the ones paying the ultimate price.

He's not sharing his military decisions with Congress, nor his own Pentagon. This is a rogue, incompetent Commander in Chief with no plans or strategies. Just chaos. And none of it makes America safer.

Barney Frank was a courageous legislator of extraordinary character who put his own stamp on Washington. He was a dear friend and colleague, and he will always be my Chairman. He led the House Financial Services Committee through the worst financial crisis since the Great Depression, and as Chief of Staff I worked closely with him on what became the landmark Dodd-Frank legislation. His leadership was defined by the same brilliance and fight that marked everything he touched. We spoke a few weeks ago — about his book and current events — and he was doing what he always did: reading everything, thinking hard, and offering the kind of blunt, clear-eyed assessments that only he could give, with both insight and humor. Amy and I send our condolences to his husband Jim and to his entire family. Rest easy, Mr. Chairman.
