Happy Orchid Day On Orchid Day, we must address the alarming depletion of Manipur’s natural forests. Home to over 500 orchid species, many unique to the region, these forests are being rapidly destroyed, primarily due to illegal poppy cultivation. The deforestation not only threatens rare orchids but also endangers biodiversity, disrupts indigenous livelihoods, and accelerates climate change. Orchids, which rely on specific climatic conditions, are among the first casualties of this loss. Meitei youth Luwangthem Mukesh has gone missing in Manipur, reigniting tensions in the border state still recovering from nearly two years of ethnic clashes. He was last seen on CCTV crossing Bishnupur Bazar near Churachandpur at ~3:40 PM, sparking fears of abduction. His mother, Luwangthem Ongbi Omila Devi, pleads for his safe return. We urge the government to take immediate action to trace and rescue the missing boy.

AMA strongly condemns the unlawful blockade of #Manipur’s National Highways by Kuki-Zo groups, defying @AmitShah's directive to restore free movement from March 8.
