PETER OBI DO NOT HAVE ANY REPUTATION TO PROTECT: Here is why; As a lawyer, I find the defamation suit reportedly instituted by @PeterObi against @realkenokonkwo rather curious and difficult to appreciate from a strategic standpoint. The essence of a defamation action is the protection of a reputation that has been unjustly damaged. However, where a public figure has been subjected to prolonged public criticism, political scrutiny, and widespread debate over their actions and statements, the practical challenge becomes demonstrating that the alleged defamatory statements have caused a fresh and measurable injury to an already contested public image. Does Peter Obi even have any reputation to protect? I doubt he has any reputation to be defamed. Reputation is not what a person value himself but what others value him. Peter Obi is banking enforcing a reputation that is long dead, therefore an action like this is laughable. In a democracy, political figures inevitably expose themselves to intense criticism, and the law of defamation must be carefully balanced against the constitutional right to freedom of expression. The courts are not intended to become venues for settling every political disagreement or silencing harsh opinions. Nevertheless, whether the action succeeds or fails ultimately depends on the specific words complained of, whether they are statements of fact or opinion, their truth or falsity, whether they were published to third parties, and whether they have lowered the claimant in the estimation of right-thinking members of society. I have met a lot of people that voted Peter Obi the last time and will be voting PBAT next year. I have also met a lot of people that voted Peter Obi last time but will sit out this election because Peter Obi hasn’t been as inspiring as he was in 2023 and they do not consider the alternatives as better. I haven’t met a single PBAT supporter that is now supporting Peter Obi or any other candidate( this is my reality) I believe this administration hasn’t lived up to certain hype but I cannot deny that it’s been reform minded. Helping correct structural issues that have plagued this country far too long. For example, the recent passage of the state policing bill is by no means a mean feat. That this administration makes it look easy or don’t blow their trumpet so loudly does not diminish the huge significance of the bill and the tireless work that they put into it. The implementation of the Nigeria Payments System Vision 2028 ( championed by CBN) is another policy that has gone under the radar(I believe we should all read about the policy) . This is one policy that will revolutionize our financial system for good. One that will birth several financial innovation and products. There is no eradication of poverty without financial inclusion and it appears CBN is on an articulated agenda towards a sustainable path. For some of us, there are enough reasons to stick around this current administration. The alternatives aren’t as inspiring and simply do not have what it takes to out perform this current administration.

Marriage summed up

Racists don’t just hate black and brown people. They hate society in general. This is why so many who have been arrested after the riots recently already have criminal records. If every ethnic minority was deported they would still be getting arrested. Nothing would change.
