Roy wanted a char bottle calf for his 1st project. All I found was a nice mellow yellow heifer. Then he wanted her bred charlois so I AI’d her w/sexed semen but it didn’t stick & had a black calf. But this yr she gave birth to the prettiest black nosed char calf & he’s so jacked!

@JDScholten Not prospering from what I have seen. My sister lives and farms in rural central Illinois and big business and the lack of agricultural diversity have flattened much of any economic prosperity. I want Iowa’s economy to grow but not in the direction of what I’ve seen of IL please!

@JDScholten I’m certainly not here to agree with Randy or even necessarily to argue with you JD but I have spent some time in rural Illinois and their economic landscape is frightening to me. I’m not sure what metrics the best/worst list or you are using but small town Illinois is not …1/2

I’ve spent the last 84 days fighting breast cancer. I think I always knew I’d jump through the cancer hoops at some point in my life, but never this soon. Im tired, but I’m in remission and hopefully climbing back in my feedtruck come Fall. It feels good to be “home”!

@koinzangreg It's always a bit sad to me to watch those guys and gals get older and not be replaced with younger folks. In one of the parades we watched recently the elderly color guard was sitting on lawn chairs on a pull behind trailer with their flags 🥲

Funeral this morning & I’m thinking about the great service the color guard has given to these small rural communities over the years, they stop the planters & combines to help those in need and they are getting old Probably the best part of these little towns

Our neighbor & dear friend is a longtime radio DJ at the oldies country station in the city. His oldies show is each day at noon & on Sunday morning. Charlie got to call in a request this morning for his birthday and Cowboy Bob did not disappoint. Happy 5th birthday Charlie Bob!
