Well‑deserved honour 🏅
#AusArmy CDT Austin Appelbee has received the Australian Army Cadets Gold Commendation after bravely seeking help when his family was swept out to sea—actions that led to their successful rescue.
Outstanding courage, Austin 👏
I gave a talk in Canberra on geopolitics and cybersecurity covering this topic 2.5 years ago, and said the capital flight to the US for high tech was inevitable, just based on fundamentals let alone national security grounds. If you were looking to make $ in tech, you’d put your money in the US.
The question is would this have happened regardless without a deal?
Err, so Albos deal is to send 36% of Australia’s entire superannuation savings to the US?
Seven years of total contributions in the next 10 years?
Bullish for the ASX and property ☠️
Again I am questioning why I pay for LinkedIn. X premium + is nearly half the price with significantly more utility, as LinkedIn is mostly AI slop now, versus the human written slop of yesteryear.
If you are at #CyberconMelbourne25 this morning, come along to what my mum would say would be the best presentation of the conference, to hear me talk about regulation, AI, where Australia is heading and how we could end up regulating ourselves to irrelevance.
Room 204 at 10:25.
It’s good to be back at Cybercon. I’ll be speaking tomorrow with Brian Fletchers on ransomware and on Friday on the AI and privacy regulation. You can find my talk abstract here melbourne2025.cyberconference.com.au/sessions/sessi…
Finally trying to reengage on X as LinkedIn has become functionally unusable.
While I follow a broad number of topics my engagement will be focussed on technology specifically around AI and cybersecurity.
Most likely I'll be active during events, as I remember it being useful for that. But I am hoping this can be better alternative to LinkedIn, which has become an expensive address book, that is mostly self-aggrandising corporatised guff, that people still feel obligated to use
Okay, after several failed attempts at using this, I am trying a fourth time. It's been 6 years since I last posted anything. Let's see how long this lasts.
Excited to be speaking at International Symposium on Cybercrime Response #iscr2018 in Seoul on the industrialisation of cybercrime & my predictions for the future. @BrianFletcherAU is with me so I may be heckled. @SymantecANZ@SymantecASIA
Very proud of @SymantecANZ that rather than giving away yet another set of headphones/drone/camera/useless tchotchke and is instead supporting drought affected farmers through the buy a bale program at the #gartnersec conference
"Healthcare systems are like industrial control systems - they are very vulnerable." "I think this is just an example of why we need to change our approach to dealing with what is essentially critical infrastructure for humans." . - @MelbourneGeek, @SymantecANZ CTO
