In a modern office that proudly spoke about “progressive policies,” a new announcement came — period leave for women.
Applause. Appreciation. Social media posts.
A few days later, a man walked in with a high fever.
Pale face. Shivering. Struggling to even sit.
“Can I take leave?” he asked.
The reply was simple —
“Work is urgent. Manage somehow.”
He looked around.
Same office. Same policies. Different empathy.
He didn’t question the leave given to women.
He questioned the absence of compassion for himself.
Because fairness isn’t about who gets more support —
it’s about no one being ignored when they need it.
In the end, real progress isn’t selective.
