Tears of Joy as school girl couldn’t believe that Kenyans had transformed her father’s life. She came to pick him up from school dressed smartly, unlike before when he used to wear torn clothes. This is Mzee Chege from Olkalau, the man Kenyans on TikTok rallied together to support with small contributions that changed his life. God bless all of you who contributed. I think TikTok is becoming a source of relief to Kenyans who are suffering from poverty. Guess TikTok users are more supportive than every app. May Jah bless them.

Mzee Chege from Olkalau recently captured the hearts of many Kenyans after he was seen walking his two children to school in worn-out clothes and gumboots. For years, life has been incredibly tough for this devoted father. Working long hours at a quarry, he has single-handedly provided for his two children and his elderly mother.Over 13 years ago, his wife abandoned him and their young children. Since then, she has never returned or shown any interest in their lives. Mzee Chege has been raising them in a small single-room mabati house. When school is on holiday, his daughter (now in high school) and son have to share a modest three-seater sofa to sleep.Despite the hardships, Mzee never once considered abandoning his children. The kids, understanding their father’s struggles, adapted to the difficult life with quiet resilience, always holding onto hope that God would one day change their story. In the early years, he would cycle to the quarry with both children seated on the bicycle with him.But their long season of struggle has now taken a beautiful turn.A compassionate TikTok community rallied together and raised over KSh 500,000. They bought Mzee and his children new clothes, utensils, bedding, and other household items. Most importantly, they moved the family into a new, fully furnished one-bedroom house — their first home with electricity, running water, a proper bathroom, toilet, and kitchen. For the first time in their lives, the children watched television in their own living room. The family will stay in this house for three months while construction begins on their permanent home. Today, the TikTok community, together with well-wishers across Kenya, will hold a public fundraising drive to build Mzee Chege a decent permanent house.Interestingly, relatives from the wife’s side — who had been silent for over 13 years — have now started reaching out, seeking forgiveness.

@mbakayamilimu @franc_monyango Ya last, ROI doesnt always have to be measured purely in direct monetary terms. Sometimes its brand goodwill, social impact, loyalty, visibility and longterm community influence. CSR itself is a form of ROI. Education scholarships, community impact, life beyond rugby initiatives

@mbakayamilimu @franc_monyango I can give you the real nos on the "buying power" of Kach, but the better Q should have been did the event tick the boxes for the sponsors who came on board? Success is measured against the sponsor’s objectives and expected value, not just assumptions on a region’s spending power.

This kind of myopic elite mentality has seen rugby go down recently. Matusi kila kona but the game is poor! Disrespectful of Kakamega crowd and those who travelled. Kabras have earned it and love their fanbase ya @Merddie who cannot afford beer I guess.
Monyango@franc_monyango

@kevin_jomo ROI iko wapi? Just ask yourself, if you were running a business, would you sponsor the event? Considering the buying power ya demographic ya hiyo place event imepelekwa, hadi ticko iko reduced to less than 50% what Nairobi clubs charge fans in Nairobi.
