You’ll read Civil War history and there’ll be battles where the Union captures a bunch of confederates and they’ll make them swear an oath not to take arms against them again and let them go. And you’re like. You can’t be serious.

It's so funny that many years ago the Guardian changed its world news page to be "alphabetical" therefore placing Africa, almost always the least important continent, on the top.

@worst_account @No5mallf3at "I do not think we can point to any one 'central' fallacy in Keynes upon which all the others depend, or of which they are corollaries. The book is not that logical or consistent. It is a succession, rather, of a whole series of major fallacies..." - Henry Hazlitt

It’s interesting the quote opens “Keynes was a genius”, yet the Austrian crew loves to swear up and down he’s a moron who didn’t know how ass from his ankles. So Hayek’s followers online today think Keynes a moron, and Hayek himself opens his critique calling him a genius. Hmm…
F. A. Hayek Quotes@FAHayekSays

“Keynes knew very little economics... He was much more concerned with influencing policy at a particular moment than developing a true theory.” — Friedrich Hayek

@worst_account "You can write something that you don't intend that still binds you or your children" is way more of a "covenant with death and an agreement with hell" than slavery being legal imo.

Spooner's The Unconstitutionality of Slavery might be the most underrated work of philosophy from the US prior to the analytic era. The framers clearly intended a covenant with Death and agreement with Hell, but that simply did not matter. Slavery was unconstitutional.
The Levelling Spirit@LevellingSpirit

@mike_slugs Who do you think was right about the Constitution, Frederick Douglass or William Lloyd Garrison? Was it a "glorious liberty document" or a "covenant with death and an agreement with hell"?

@mouthofgeraldo I personally find it annoying because the obvious solution (everyone leaning back and therefore having an equal amount of room) is not comfortable for me.
