@PollyPorridge Would have thought the ban would have been from the AFL/club/stadium. VicPol can only issue the infringement.
English

Didn’t the guy who threw the bottle at the umpire get banned for years? These seems inconsistent at the least
Tom Morris@tommorris32
Victoria Police has issued an infringement notice to a 43-year-old Narre Warren man for throwing the Coke bottle towards Nick Watson. That’s a $407 fine. @1116sen @AFLNation

They weren’t
9 of the 10 winners were in lanes 6,7 or 8 so super wide was also a disadvantage (those on the last favourite would know)
That the MRC has since embarrassingly tried to defend the indefensible makes them look like amateurs

@rtralphy Why were they racing in the car park?

I’m at the stage where Essendon should do fan week and have a group of supporters coach:
If you win you get to go again next week.

@allovertheform Too many people for too long benefitted from the ever rising prizemoney & if they were on boards where they should have been holding the regulator accountable they didn't, if they had a high profile & should've spoken out for the greater good, they didn't. When good men do O!

Racing NSW vs ATC: A Regulator Out of Control
The ongoing dispute between Racing NSW and the Australian Turf Club has revealed a regulator not merely failing in its duties but actively abusing its authority. Racing NSW, entrusted with the governance and integrity of racing in New South Wales, has repeatedly demonstrated recklessness, arrogance, and a contempt for law and fairness.
Earlier, Racing NSW attempted to force the ATC into administration. The Supreme Court decisively rejected this audacious move. A ruling that should have been a full stop. Instead, Racing NSW has appealed, exposing itself as a body that refuses to accept limits, a regulator that treats judicial authority as inconvenient rather than binding. This is not governance. This is bullying cloaked in procedural pretense.
The escalation has reached new heights. Racing NSW is now alleged to have withheld nearly 10 million dollars in wagering payments from the ATC. Ten million dollars. Held hostage. By the regulator charged with safeguarding the sport. This is not oversight. It is financial coercion, a deliberate abuse of power that betrays every principle of integrity and fairness the regulator is meant to uphold.
Racing NSW’s actions are not merely misguided. They are institutionally corrupt in practice, reckless in judgment, and dangerous for the sport. It is a regulator that appears more interested in domination than in service, more concerned with control than with credibility, and more willing to weaponize its authority than to uphold it.
The ATC’s recourse to the Supreme Court is not only justified. It is morally and institutionally necessary. It exposes Racing NSW for what it has become: a rogue body willing to manipulate law, procedure, and finance to punish those who resist its overreach. The consequences of ignoring such behaviour are profound. Unchecked, this conduct undermines the very foundations of racing governance and threatens public confidence in the sport.
Let there be no misunderstanding. This conflict is escalating, and it will intensify. Millions of dollars, the integrity of racing, and public trust hang in the balance. Racing NSW lit the fuse with reckless overreach and alleged financial coercion. The ATC has responded decisively, defending not merely its own interests but the principles of fairness, lawfulness, and accountability that Racing NSW has repeatedly shown it cannot or will not uphold.
It is now time for all participants across New South Wales, trainers, jockeys, stable staff, and owners, to stand with the ATC. Collective action including industrial measures is warranted to defend the integrity of the sport and to ensure that Racing NSW is held accountable. The industry must make clear. Intimidation, financial coercion, and abuse of regulatory authority will not be tolerated. Only a united, principled response can force Racing NSW to respect the law, the courts, and the institutions it is charged with protecting.
Until Racing NSW confronts its systemic failings, acknowledges its abuse of power, and realigns its conduct with the law and public expectation, this conflict will worsen. The war between regulator and club is far from over. It is poised to escalate, and the consequences, for Racing NSW’s credibility, authority, and legitimacy, will be catastrophic. The sport cannot and must not tolerate anything less than full accountability.

Construction workers shouldn’t earn less because teachers are paid shit. The question should be how construction workers have managed to win higher wages from their shitty bosses and why doesn’t Labor pay education workers more (considering Labor is their boss at the moment). The answer is industrial action.

Now I totally understand why Merrett wanted to leave. He just wants to play for a good side that matches his talents. Feel sorry for him.
