@Chesspatzeruk N6h5+ is playable and looks fun. Can’t see the finish if White just moves the King but there are enough Knight checks afterwards for me to want to try it

Just played my semi-finals games with @MerryHatMan in WC of Abstract Games: France vs England! Probably the best match I played this year, some really nice and close games during 4 hours! youtube.com/watch?v=eb3eGK…

@Chesspatzeruk Given our Queen is already attacked, maybe 1.Qxe6+ Kxe6 2.Ng5+ Ke7 3.d6# is the way to go instead

@Chesspatzeruk I’m sure there are other variations but 1.Ng5 Rh6 2.Nxe6 Rxg6 3.Nc5# is nice!

Taken about 3 years but finally got round to spending my @ITVChase winnings on a Vegas trip. A great experience, even if the poker was eventually marred by an expensive bad beat. A wonderful experience though, including a Penn & Teller show & a Grand Canyon flight. @MarkLabbett

@Chesspatzeruk I’m not seeing the whole line but given that grabbing the Bishop can be met with Rd1, Rd8+ and Qg6+, I certainly wouldn’t be resigning this!

Played a Chess game last night that made me feel like both a genius and an idiot at the same time. Despite a mate in 2 being on offer, I took a perpetual instead. At least I found a nice move here though, Black to play

@JohanSalomon Admittedly didn’t take too long to solve but 2 different underpromotions is extremely beautiful!

@DoctorScull For these composed positions, the correct move is rarely a natural one. Once you notice Black has no good waiting move Kc7 isn’t that hard, but you need a bit of experience with these before you can call them easy

Trying to do Yusupov’s Build Your Chess (book 1 orange series) mate in 2 puzzles in chp 9. He rates them as 1 star (easy). I’ve missed 9 in a row including this one. White to move, mate in 2. Is this easy to you? #chesspunks

Next up: A Tromp! One of those opening exits where despite the Basman-like 3...g5, Leela's evaluation is quite modest... and I don't believe it 🧐 We'll see who is right 😁🤡tcec-chess.com

Just back from the Scarborough Chess Congress, although with a difference. As a small tribute to the legend that was Mike Basman, I played the Grob in all 5 games! Just scored 2/5 but that was more spoiling good positions than anything. Was only really worse from the opening once
