قناص إسرائيلي يتحدث عن عمليات قنص نفذها في حي تل الهوا خلال الاجتياح الأول لمدينة غزة، قائلاً إنه أطلق النار على شاب، وعندما حاول آخرون الوصول إليه وإنقاذه، قام باستهدافهم أيضًا. تحقيق استقصائي لعدة وكالات أنباء - كشف أن الشاب المستهدف كان في مقتبل العمر، أما الذين حاولوا إنقاذه فكانوا والده، وشقيقه، وابن عمه. الجندي الإسرائيلي يتفاخر قائلًا (كانت جثة ثمينة، لذلك حاولوا سحبها) معتقدًا أنه قتل - هدفًا مسلحًا مهمًا - وأن من اقتربوا منه كانوا مقاتلين يحاولون استعادة الجثة. لكنه لم يفكر ولو للحظة أن الحقيقة كانت أبسط وأكثر إنسانية من كل جريمته وروايته العسكرية الباردة. كان أبًا يحاول إنقاذ ابنه. وأخًا يحاول إنقاذ أخيه. وعائلة تركض نحو واحد منها، لا نحو (هدف ثمين) كما تخيل. هكذا تُختزل الإنسانية أحيانًا في عين القاتل .. إلى مجرد هدف بينما الحقيقة على الأرض كانت عائلة تحاول ألا تترك ابنها ينزف وحيدًا.
