First thing I look at in a poll is Independents. Being -38 w/ Indies before a midterm is catastrophic. Closest that another prez was to this w/ Indies in March of a 2nd term midterm election year was Bush in '06... and that was w/ backlash to Iraq, Katrina, & Dubai Ports deal.

Trump & GOP have a big freaking problem! Milestone: Trump's net approval has now been underwater for a year. He has the worst net approval with indies at this pt in term 2 of any prez this century. The effect: Dems have a very real chance of winning the Senate, not just House.

Trump's 38% approval, 57% disapproval is BAD, but even scarier for GOP? Americans 2x as likely to STRONGLY DISAPPROVE (50%) than strongly approve (27%). He's already -23 on the economy & gas prices still soaring. No wonder House & Senate GOP running for exits in record numbers.

Let me put this another way: The US economy has LOST jobs since April 2025. Total job gains since from May 2025 to February 2026 are now -19,000. Companies are not hiring in the face of all of these headwinds and uncertainty. And even healthcare is starting to slow down.

In 2018, Dems won the turnout battle and flipped the House. In 2022, the GOP had the turnout edge and took it back. Last night’s SEN primaries: TX: 2,252,358 (D) vs. 2,141,929 (R) NC: 824,798 (D) vs. 625,667 (R) 310K more Dem votes. Early signal looks closer to 2018 than 2022.
