#Savatage. “24 Hrs Ago.” 1987. Guitar prodigy Criss Oliva doing what he does best — melting faces. Hall of the Mountain King is one of those near-perfect 80s LPs thanks to Criss being given more freedom to play his leads throughout [as opposed to the usual 1 x solo per song] 👑

#Trouble. “The Wolf.” 1990. Four albums in & the band were rocking — likewise working with Rick Rubin & his Def Jam label, back when he was a good producer — and this song is a fine example. Still elements of stoner doom but clearly embracing the ‘en vogue’ sounds of the late 80s
