When is a Game, not just a Game? Perhaps it's when what's being built is so big calling it a Game doesn't do it justice. Games can come and go, but a universe, a story, a feeling stays with you. If you don't know who we are talking about just yet don't worry this thread will give you a small taste of the vast universe @CrossTheAges is creating and why it's more than just a game. Cross the Ages is a universe that blends Fantasy, Sci-fi, and Post-apocalyptic to create a universe so vast and evergrowing you can't wait to learn more. How can you get immersed? The book's The lore and story for the Cross the Ages universe is so expansive that they have a saga comprising of 7 books spread over a decade. Written by Arnaud Dollen and available on Amazon or bookstores from April 10th you can get stuck in with the first volume "La Rune & Le CODE" . Physical Products A universe is not complete without your ability to bring it into the world with you and Cross the Ages is perfect for that. With multiple clothing options, comics coming soon, and Physical trading card packs you can not only play the game offline but also look stylish while doing it. Multiple Games The universe Isnt complete without a fun way to interact and the team has covered multiple genres so there is something for everyone. - There is a TCG that is free to play available on PC, Mac, Android, and iOS platforms. - There is "Arise" an Action RPG built on Unreal engine 5 with PC and other platforms later on coming soon. - Then if that wasn't enough there is "ReVerse" a unique concept where the virtual and real world can have an impact on each other. Every Virtual CTA land represents an industrial promotion in the real world. Movies and series Currently, on their YouTube, you can find exciting Cinematics and Trailers with an animation film and potential series coming soon. This is only a brief insight into the Universe building that Cross the Ages has begun. With multiple Games and a token coming soon it's not too late to start your journey. It's happening. BTC is just... going crazy. Memes are flying, yes. But utility coins will eventually catch fire (some already are pumping quite hard). We are aware gaming has been under-performing lately. But that's likely a result of retail coming back and buying into the most retail-friendly narratives (memecoins, L1s, top 100, etc). Gaming is gonna make it. We'll outperform everyone soon enough. Just wait.

Is reactive marketing the key ingredient that projects need to use when growing community engagement? Being able to notice trends, world events and capitalize on the the impact these have positively. Will not only be great for the timeline but also in attracting new fans wanting to integrate into what you are building. @playoffthegrid hasn't been flying under the radar but the use of the election certainly has. In the creation of 2 characters they not only got retweets all over but likely saw a lot of people reaching for their card to use these in the game.... Do you think strategies like this are key for community growth or short-term gimmicks unlikely to attract longterm fans?

It seems like the meta is very quickly shifting away from CEXs, low floats and high FDV launches. This is extremely healthy and ALSO very retail-friendly. Lots of projects making public rounds at FDVs below their last private round. @blastroyale and @asymmetryfin to name a few. Seems like a great time to be a retail investor. Hopefully this, along with more regulatory clarity in the US, will bring the vibes back to utility tokens in crypto.

Q3 Web 3 gaming investments Overview: What's happening? And where are we heading? Something we don't see making lots of headlines is how Blockchain gaming investments dropped a whopping 31% last quarter (when compared to Q3 2023). The drop is even harder when compared to last quarter, from 296M through 71 deals > 128M 36 deals. It's no secret for ppl involved with crypto that market was pretty dry in Q3 and that may partially explain the investments decline. But the big picture says there's something deeper happening. What do we think is happening? Tu put it simply: Web 3 gaming is not that hot anymore (at least for now). People are running towards memecoins and all sorts of different gambles inside of crypto. So, interest in Web 3 gaming seems in ATL. Now, is that a bad thing for the industry? Not necessarily. We truly think the current scenario means both an opportunity for investors to get cheaper deals AND also for industry leaders and REAL builders to capture people's attention. Less noise means less grifters trying to pretend like they're building a "game" which is rlly just a cash grab. So now it should WAY easier to find those genuine teams building actual, fun games and/or useful tools. Web 3 gaming isn't just a buzzword. It's a real shift on how games are built and how community & assets are managed. We are here because we KNOW this sector will absolutely dominate in the medium-long term. Only thing we see now it's an opportunity.

We love how Web 3 gaming's narrative has shifted from "play-to-earn" to "create a great game and let ppl own their assets" This is what the tech REALLY is about. It's about empowering gamers to OWN the assets they pay for and create innovative ways to make your community closer to the devs. So, we mentioned "great games". But... what makes a great web 3 game? Here are the 5 main points we think teams need to cover: 🎮 Fun gameplay: First things first. U need a game people would want to play even if it wasn't web 3 at all. ➿ Sustainable in-game economies: Founders NEED to create an environment in which people who extract are punished and ppl who add are rewarded. 🆕 Innovative mechanics: It's important to create something which makes players all around to world go: "Ohh so this is what web 3 tech enables". ⏳ Seamless onboarding: Gamers NEED the experience to be extremely smooth when it comes to Web 3 elements. This alone is likely the most relevant factor when onboarding the masses. 🫂 Strong community engagement: Web 3 is all about communities. Gamers want to feel close to the devs and other members of their community. It is up to the teams to create tools and make it extremely easy for people to connect with each other and the devs. Building a great game is a very complex challenge and adding the Web 3 factor only makes it harder. Because of this, teams need to be very resilient and open to testing new strategies/approaches. Only the most innovative, talented and hard-working teams will crush it in this space.

A web 3 game is going mainstream! I'm sure you heard the news. @playoffthegrid recently revealed VERY exciting news. The popular Fortnite streamer Ninja (among others), with his 19M Twitch followers is gonna be streaming the game. Apparently, they've hit an astonishing 900k DAU. Far exceeding most Web 3 games to this day already. But... what does this team for the Web 3 gaming industry as a whole? We at @MetavestCapital think this is just the start. And it was always inevitable. Having a quality web 3 game reach a mass audience will likely mean most stereotypes on gamers' heads will fade. Which will, in turn, make it WAY easier for the next generation of blockchain games to succeed. And yea we know this is quite an obvious take for anyone slightly involved in the space. But hey, someone had to say it 🤷‍♂️

Why is Web3 gaming sentiment so bad when Traditional games fail as well? Games are a difficult genre to build in with consumer enjoyment constantly changing, high costs, and competition for attention everywhere , In this thread, we will be diving into why web3 gaming is actually on a great track and potential evolution of a 187 Billion-dollar market. Web2 failures There is a sentiment that web3 games constantly fail, that teams come in use the buzzword raise money and leave. We have seen failures with Cointelegraph quoting "75% failing" in the last 5 years however an expectation for them all to succeed is unrealistic. Game studios will fail but without failures, great projects won't shine. Web2 recently saw this effect with Sony's "Concord" and Game sciences "Black Myth Wukong" One was a great success selling over $20 million in copies another pulled from shelves after 2 weeks. Sony one of the biggest media giants estimated to spend between 100-200 million developing the game just for a launch to fail, all while pricing it at $50. While Indie Dev Studio Game Science has made 700-800 Million in revenue. Games won't all succeed but the ones that do will change how media is viewed. "Black Myth Wukong" shows a shining example of creativity and dev work. Why is this a good thing for Web3 The sentiment is changing and as much as we don't want to see failure it's key to understanding that web3 isn't the only one making mistakes. In fact the constant number of Teams and communities popping up to support new Web 3 games already shows signs of this enigmatic market. Teams connecting and building with communities with examples like @todaythegame having an upcoming playtest completely free or @EVE_Frontier the dev team behind Eve Online creating a web3 game playable in 2 weeks? Failures will happen but the ones that survive can flourish whether that's traditional or web3. We strongly believe in this and why we are always looking for new teams to support and help build. If there are any games we should be looking at make sure to comment below and make sure to follow for more deep dives, threads, and more on everything Gaming and Investment.

Why did Zynga games sell Sugartown? For those of u not familiar with the matter, Zynga is a huge game developer known for their social games, such as Farmville. In Summer 2023, they started a Web 3 initiative called "Sugartown". Long story short: It's a game and they sold 10k NFTs which would grant unique perks inside their ecosystem. Now, they're announcing the sale of the project to the company who helped them develop most of the game, called D20. Now, let's not beat around the bush; this is a big company scaling back their Web 3 push. The specific reason why is happening? Still uncertain as Zynga hasn't made any comment about it. On the Web 3 gaming world, we keep pushing forward and some setbacks are expected. What does this mean for the industry as a whole? Not much IMO. It only means some companies will thrive and some others will fail when taking a step towards a Web 3 future.

Web 3 gaming might feel quite slow currently but that doesn't mean its dead. In fact, we believe some of the best is yet to come with teams getting to the late stage of development and with lots of learning from mistakes In this thread, we will dive into why we feel this way and why you might too... 1. Recognition in the Esports World Cup - @EWC_EN @PARAVOX_game scheduled for open beta release on August 23rd has officially joined the esports world cup in Riyadh. With the game development already being competitive enough in an alpha state to be accepted into this competition is a massive win for web3 games. It not only shows the willingness of people to get involved with web3 games but the possibilities too with exclusive collaboration skins being awarded to players who create an account before August 31st. 2. Cross console acceptance @playoffthegrid a free-to-play battle royale is releasing on not only PC but PS5 and Xbox as well. With consoles starting to accept and publish games it expands the player base web3 games can reach and sets a great precedent that being web3 doesn't stop you from reaching all channels. 3. Further development stages With lots of top-tier web3 games being around for a year to 2 years now, the teams have had plenty of time to develop and learn from the mistakes others have made adapting strategies for success. There are too many great titles to mention that come to mind but some to check out if you are looking for your next game are @todaythegame , @playSparkball , @playDARKTIMES and @fableborne. With alphas, betas and even first seasons going live there are plenty of games out there to start enjoying and earning in some cases that have deep loops and exciting features. There are plenty of other things to be excited about and we hope that this has got you interested to find your own. As always stay following for the latest in web3 gaming. Let us know in the replies which game are you most excited to release.

There's this phrase I've been running into lately: "The future of gaming is built and owned by players" Sounds pretty and it's quite catchy but I guess anyone could wonder... what does that REALLY mean? If u ask me, I'd say "built" by gamers because: - UGC is only gonna keep growing. Lots of tools are being developed and there's just no limits to what can be created, when u can count on millions of players building fun stuff inside of your game/ecosystem. - Also, gamers want to have a voice on the games they love. That much is quite obvious. It seems the narrative is shifting. Companies are increasingly listening more and more to what their playerbase have to say and Web 3 gaming even wants to give players a VOTE in certain governance systems. DAOs allow this to happen and some projects such as Decentraland utilize governance tokens to allow players to make decisions. Now, when we talk about "Owned" by players, Not only does it mean now, through NFT tech, players get to own their in-game assets, But also means allowing your most loyal, diehard fans to actually get a stake in your game. We at Metavest certainly think the future of gaming is Web 3. How can gamers not want to be able to "build and own" their favorite games? The shift is gonna happen. Slowly... then all at once. And we'll be here, supporting the brightest innovators and builders in the space.
