March 8 marked 2026 International Women’s Day. Chief David Toto would like to salute all of the incredibly driven women who work for the Methuen Fire Department. You are truly deserving of our admiration. We celebrate you and recognize the effort you invest in our community.

Daylight saving time begins March 8 @ 2am so move your clocks ahead 1 hour. This is also time to change the batteries in your smoke/carbon monoxide alarms. Replace batteries at least once a year and test them monthly. Make it a habit to Change Your Clocks, Change Your Batteries.

Today, Chief Dave Toto, Asst. Chief Mike Fluet, Deputy Chief Dan Donahue, & Captain Sue Vallera took part in Read Across America at the Methuen Schools building on Branch Street. They had a terrific time reading to preschool students for this important and enjoyable initiative.

Thank you to our good friends and partners @BostonFireCU. This past week, they dropped off a great care package for our firefighters. We appreciate their generosity and the work they do for our firefighting brothers and sisters. 

This past week, our great friends at Texas Roadhouse sent over some terrific food for our firefighters. We thank them so much for their generosity, continued partnership, and commitment to the people of Methuen. 

You can help the Methuen Fire Department and your neighbors by safely clearing any snow and ice from fire hydrants - three feet on each side and clear to the street. We thank you for your assistance. 

Due to the incoming forecasted snow on Sunday, January 18, 2026,the Winter Parking Ban WILL be fully enforced. On Monday, January 19, 2006, between 1am and 6am, NO vehicles will be permitted to park on ANY public way to allow for snow removal operations.

We would like to send out thanks to our good friends at St. Ann’s Home and School in Methuen. Members of the staff dropped off some tremendous food to us this week. As always, we appreciate their generosity and what they do for young people in our city throughout the year.

Chief Scott Carrigan of the Salisbury, MA Fire Department came to our Central Station today to provide Mayday Training to all of our firefighters. This important training offers a new approach to refining our methodology in handling a mayday situation.

Methuen Firefighters Local 1691 sponsored this week’s team meal for the Methuen High School Football team. We have several former Methuen HS athletes on our department, and they all enjoy being positive influences and helping out our current student-athletes.

2025 marks the 24th Anniversary of the tragedy of September 11, 2001. There will be a brief Ceremony of Remembrance at our Central Fire Station, 24 Lowell Street on Thursday, September 11 beginning at precisely 9:55 a.m. All are welcome and encouraged to attend.

We hope you will drive by our Central Station Labor Day Weekend for our Fill the Boot campaign for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Our firefighters will be out on Osgood & Lowell Sts. taking donations, Sat & Sun August 30 & 31, 9am-4pm. Let’s work together to change lives!

METHUEN FISHING DERBY MOVED TO SUNDAY, JUNE 1: Due to rain in the forecast, the Methuen Fishing Derby scheduled for Sat., May 31 has been moved to Sunday, June 1 at Forest Lake, 10am-1pm. Free event, fish from the shore or a boat, food and drinks provided by the Methuen Fire Dept

Chief Tim Sheehy and the men and women of the Methuen Fire Department honor those who lost their lives in service to our country. Memorial Day is a time to reflect, remember, and respect the bravery of our fallen soldiers and military personnel.
