@ByronWalkerfl There were definitely some quirky greens and fairways where a good shot could easily end up OB. I think next time I play it I’ll have a better feel on where to aim off the tee and away from trouble and hopefully more consistent face control.

@Mets86champsT I just played it recently too. Had some unusual shaped greens. One that was super long and another that three of the four of us hit the green in regulation and the ball rolled all the way off to the cart path. Impossible with the front pin position. 😂

Played The Villages Woodlands championship today.
Started Par, Quad, Par, Par and the wheels fell off to close out the front with a 49
- I’m sure this doesn’t happen to offend in a 7 hole stretch but I had a par, bogey, double. Triple and a Quad
Back 9 started with another triple, then for some unknown reason I was able to hit the ball straight again and played the last 8 holes in 3 over and it easily should have been even par.
Nice new course (only been open for 4 months). Many fairways slope toward water hazards and we all had lost balls that had hit the fairway
New course number 5 for the year

Mid season Jekyll & Hyde form today
Played Shallow Creek today, 18 hole par 70 started on the 10th
Holes 10-18 - 49 with 5 penalties, 5 doubles and a triple
Holes 1-9 - 39 with another penalty on the last hole. But that was due to hitting it through the dogleg
Mid teen winds with a narrow course were both a factor, but I chalk up the horrible start to LOFT.
Love the feel of my new swing when I do what I’ve been working on l. Breaking muscle memory is so hard.
Shallow Creek is my 4th new course this year.

English

Had some time to go to the range today, but asked the starter at the next door executive course if anyone had cancelled due to the cold. He had an opening, so I was able to play
Bellaire executive course.
Golf gods punished me for playing instead of practicing. Old swing showed up half way through with balance issues and falling back.
5 over but hit too many balls in the forehead.
Bellaire executive was my 3rd new course this year. My goal is 25 new courses

"Jerry Koosman had brains, heart and guts, it was his misfortune to always be second best.
Runner up to Johnny Bench for the 1968 ROY despite 19 wins, runner up to Randy Jones for the Cy Young in 1976 despite 21 wins, always the #2 starter behind Tom Terrific"
"Jerry Koosman threw a 90-plus fastball."
Roberto Clemente said Koosman was the only guy who threw a fastball:
"That never moved the same way twice."
Jerry Koosman's catcher in his Mets days, J.C. Martin, once said that Koosman could throw his 11-5 curveball "any time.".
In 1977, Jerry Koosman lost 20 games and had an ERA+ of 107, WAR 2.9, and lead the league in SO/9!!!!!!
He was that good!
How does a player with 222 wins, 73rd all-time, an ERA of 3.36 and 2,556 strikeouts make it on just ONE, yes ONE, Hall of Fame ballot???
In my HOF!!!

"There is actually a good argument Tom Seaver should be regarded as the greatest pitcher of all time.
Tom Seaver pitched for eight losing teams, several of them really terrible, four other teams which had losing records, except when Tom Seaver was on the mound".
Bill James.
"You put a bunch of guys together of varying abilities and you know who the great ones are.
When you played behind Tom Seaver, you were playing behind greatness.
And you saw it almost every time.”
Ron Swoboda.
"But Tom Seaver does everything well.
He's the kind of man you'd want your kids to grow up to be like.
Tom's a studious player, devoted to his profession, a loyal cat, trustworthy, everything a Boy Scout's supposed to be.
In fact, we call him 'The Boy Scout.'"
Cleon Jones.

This picture hangs in our radio booth to reinforce what a privilege it is to be part of their lineage. There’s a little bit of all three of them inside every game I’ve been fortunate to call for the @Mets. If a game begins to drag, one look at that picture provides a reset.
This Day in Mets History@NYMhistory
1/17/1962 Bob Murphy and Lindsey Nelson are introduced as the first play-by-play announcers for the Mets.

An amazing Rickey Henderson story (No, not the Olerud one)
While playing for the Padres in 1996, Rickey was the last to board the team bus. As a veteran, he had expected someone to leave him his own row, but there wasn't a full one open.
"No seats for Rickey?," Henderson said, standing in the front of the bus. "Rickey don't get no seat? Ain't nobody got a seat for Rickey?"
"Just tell one of the kids to move," Brad Ausmus said. "You've got tenure."
"Tenure?!" Rickey replied, indignant. "Nah, Rickey got 15 year!"
After everyone stopped laughing, one of the rookies moved, and Rickey happily sat down, proud of his Fifteenyure.
