In honor of Pete Alonso resigning with the Mets, here’s him hitting a bomb and creating one of the greatest moments of my life.

You’ll never guess what Paul Skenes’ ERA is.

Paul Skenes is done. He recorded two outs. You have to think this was as much about not taking an extremely stressful inning and adding to it as anything. Skenes threw 37 pitches, and Pirates manager Don Kelly didn't want to tax him more. A stunning first for the Mets.

Happy Opening Day to all those who celebrate. It’s crucial that we as a society forget whatever that Netflix slop was last night.

Spent the last week finding discrepancies across every piece of predictive data ever created, and today placed 61 total MLB futures bets. We are not the same. Knowing my luck not a single bet will hit, but we are not the same nonetheless.

Projected opening day rotation exactly 1 year ago vs today. A good lesson to always trust the process.

Francisco Lindor will be evaluated for a stress reaction in his left hamate bone, David Stearns said. Surgery is possible and would include a six-week recovery. Stearns said he’s confident Lindor could be ready for opening day if he undergoes the surgery.

Right-hander Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers are in agreement on a one-year contract. Verlander, 43 next week, returns to the team with which he spent his first 13 seasons and whose hat he'll wear in the Hall of Fame.

David Stearns press conference notes: - Freddy Peralta is a “quality leader” and is “constantly getting better” - Stearns “feels good” with the current roster construction - Ackowledges NL East is very tough… “until we win a division we can’t claim we’re at the top.” - Recognized that Sproat and Jett are high quality players. Was tough to give them up, but the return was worth it - On Tobias Myers: “fills up the zone and goes right after people… not afraid… versatility in rotation and bullpen… roster flexibility…” - “I understand that when fans see good players going elsewhere at the front end of the offseason they’re going to be disappointed… we understood that there were going to be great opportunities to make our team better… I’m happy with where our team is right now…” - “We like our rotation… Freddy a stabilizing force to lead rotation.” - Expecting bounce back seasons from Senga and Manaea - Stearns made trade on his wedding anniversary. Guy is married to the game - No Freddy Peralta extension talks yet. Keeping it internal and allowing him to get acclimated - Team has checked off main goals of offseason, but there are more moves to be made. “We’ll keep busy” on both free agent market and trade market - My opinion: Sounds like everything that has happened (aside from Tucker and Diaz) has gone completely to plan - Stearns believes that the Mets have multiple #1 starters - On run prevention and 2 new positions in the infield: “we really like what our defense looks like up the middle… there’s going to be learning curves…” - To give the fans confidence going into next year: “we’re going to go into this year with a very talented group, but also a group that looks somewhat different. There are gonna be a lot of guys in our clubhouse who really have no affiliation at all with what happened to us in ‘25. And I think that’s healthy and I think that’s good for us.” 🫡
