This reminds me of the Italian mobster Greg Scarpa. In 1986 Greg Scarpa was scheduled for surgery to repair a bleeding ulcer and needed a blood transfusion. He refused the hospitals screened blood because he said that it came from "Black people" and was "contaminated". He had a "blood drive" and used blood from his inner circle of mob associates. One of his mob buddies(Paul Mele) had AIDS and Scarpa contracted the virus from him and died in 1994.
