You can still be mysterious after over sharing cause in that moment everyone is thinking “why would she say that”

@ItalianQueenAri @laurarw I definitely think that social media has made me much more distracted from school work. especially in the current times when everything is online anyways and it’s easier than ever to tune out anything school related and scroll for hours instead

@t_lb_t @laurarw I grew up being told that what you post on social media sticks with you for life, and I think when you are looking for a job this is something you should just expect to be happening. It may feel unfair but it is part of the social media world that we are living in

@laurarw #ucengl2074 tinyurl.com/y9r9gl45 With everyone hunting for a job right now, and with our growing dependence on social media, do you think it's ethical for employers to go through their employee's personal social media accounts during the hiring process?

@JordanStefut @laurarw I like how this article talked about the several types of inspiration that can be garnered from social media because I feel like that is a truly positive aspect that we ignore a lot. Career wise, school wise, lifestyle wise, etc. we take a lot of inspo from what we see on sm

#ucengl2074 tinyurl.com/yardngs6 I'm always harsh on SM, not giving enough credit. What is the most positive or beneficial impact of SM for you?Which of these examples is your favorite? Are there any you hadn't thought of before and will start implementing through SM?@laurarw

@noah_bruce01 @laurarw confirmation bias will definitely always make fact checking a little bit harder than it has been in the past. we are less likely to listen to things that we don't agree with regardless of it being proved to be true or not

@paypay717 it's interesting that this is aimed at parents because my parents and I have had a lot of conversations about social media and they are more skeptical/ untrusting/ disliking of social media than me for sure. I believe SM has good and bad sides as listed in the article

@Krissy_Marie347 @laurarw I 100% think social media has affected my family relationships. One example I always think of is how it has kept me close to my family members who still live back at home (especially my cousins) and allowed me to still interact with them and keep our relationship strong

Hey #ucengl2074 I am having major connectivity issues so a WebEx call is not going to work today. The week 9 module is posted in Canvas; enjoy! If you have any questions about this week, send me an email. Please comment on this post so I can count you as "present" today!

@musicalshazel @laurarw I feel so out of touch when I read things like this because based on hearing names alone I could barely tell you what any of these do. I def need to do more research than I am into digital marketing bc I do find it so interesting and there's so much to learn!

@nataliegalle_uc @laurarw I think it's upsetting when celebrities DON'T use their platform to promote activism, but there is a fine line for sure. They have power and can draw attention to issues if they wield it correctly, but we've seen examples of activism that had no bigger impact and became a joke

@lsr305s @laurarw I think this relates and I want to know if anyone does this also! I'm a believer in muting things/words/people you don't want to see content from instead of deleting or unfollowing all together. It can sometimes feel easier in my eyes and almost better than complete deletion

@samfluffypants @laurarw the concept of writing guest blog posts is pretty cool to me and I feel like I sometimes forget that interacting with and supporting other content writers can be equally as beneficial as working on your own site. I hope in my future job I can interact with a lot of other writers

tinyurl.com/y5nz5cw9 @laurarw #ucengl2074 As we explore careers in social media, I wanted to share this infograph to educate us all on how to increase traffic to our posts and future websites we create. What are some things you learned? What will you implement from this graph?

@lydiaemiller11 @laurarw I think at this point I really only use social media to post about my life and keep updated on others' lives, so if I want to follow the advice of this article I could work on branching out and using social media more to share informative content outside of my own life

#ucengl2074 @laurarw inc.com/stephen-key/so… If you were running a business, what skill on SM do you think you would need to work on the most out of this list? Why is it important? Do you think engaging productively with followers is as hard as this article makes it out to be?

@mike_schlott @laurarw I turned off notifications awhile ago just so I could focus on living my life more and I have loved it. I don't really believe it's a marketing ploy but absolutely a way to draw us to the app, which makes sense to me business-wise. I would recommend to anyone to turn them off
