Did you know that midwife Alyse has assisted with 8 sets of twins, personally handled 5 breech deliveries/labors (not all of them were planned 😅), and helped with several more births AT HOME?!
These skills were traditionally passed down from one midwife to another over generations, and vaginal birth used to be the standard method for all deliveries.
Breech vaginal birth only became uncommon within the last 25 years.
About 50–60% of first-time mothers can successfully deliver a breech baby vaginally.
Around 80% of women who have previously delivered vaginally can have a successful breech delivery.
Cesarean sections for twins became more standardized between 1995–2008.
About 60–75% of first-time mothers can successfully deliver vaginally.
Up to 95% of twins can be safely delivered vaginally.
Midwifery was taken away from women in the early 1900s.
