Google is currently facing legal action in the USA because of its monopoly position in the search market. One of the issues is #Chrome, with which Google also dominates the browser market. So I thought I should try out and present some alternatives in the coming months ...

Even though I hate the word: Twitter now rewards and promotes slop. It’s no longer about originality, interest and human interaction. I’m afraid the only sensible option is to remove monetization again. This would eliminate the incentive to focus solely on engagement and views.

They post clips from movies, TV shows, games and caption them with mindless comments like “she didn’t see that coming” or “they were so crazy for this,” without naming the title, just to rack up engagement. Because, of course, dozens of people will ask for the title.

I signed up for #Twitter 19 years ago. Since then, the platform has become almost unrecognizable. Sure, it’s always been evolving and changing. But since Musk took over Twitter and renamed it X, things have taken a turn for the worse - especially when it comes to the "content".

New York Magazine
Since 2015, Will Wright — the legendary video game designer behind 'The Sims' and 'SimCity' — has been consumed by a new obsession: how our ever-shifting library of memories forges the self. In his mind, each personal memory from your life is like a snow globe, a world inside a world. But that world could be connected to countless others in conscious and unconscious ways. He wanted to create a game in which a player could tinker with that unending maze of inner microverses, logging their significant memories for an AI to analyze and then mapping their own psyche the way they had mapped digital metropolises in ‘SimCity.’ It would be called ‘Proxi: Yesterday's You Tomorrow.’ The concept was part computerized LEGO set, part RPG, part Enneagram, part transhumanist mind-uploading fantasy, part reboot of Borges and Proust for the LLM age. It would be, in some ways, Wright's most personal video game yet. Fast forward to October 2024 — after spending ten years, a million dollars of Wright's own money, and a few million from investors; after they’d already started building out the game’s universe — the game was (and still is) nowhere close to being finished. Eric Boodman spent time with Wright and his ‘Proxi’ crew to find out when — or if — one of the most celebrated video-game designers ever's next (and even wilder) act will come to life: nymag.visitlink.me/ElSdEG

3D Scanstore@Ten_24·
sp-6m.com This is what we’ve been working on for the past 18 months :) It’s been a genuinely mammoth project, over 82,000 scans, 5.7 million RAW images, and an enormous effort from our wonderful team. We’re incredibly proud to finally be at a point where we can start sharing it. To our knowledge, this is the largest dataset of individual high-resolution human head scans ever captured. Every participant was paid. Every scan was captured with full, informed consent. No scraping, no hidden clauses. This hasn’t just been about scale, it’s been about proving to ourselves and the tech community that data can be captured in a way that is fair, transparent, and respectful to the people involved.

@Dr_Hingis Wow. I think that was back when they still had the idea that there would be time-travel elements and that part of it would be set on a post-apocalyptic Earth.
