2000 Retopologised head scans morphing together. Less than a third of our neutral heads, and about a 40th of the total we've captured. Fascinating how much stays constant across such a broad demographic range and how much doesn't.

"Guardian of Dawn" Viewport vs. Final

My team at @Google has just open sourced GNM, our parametric 3D statistical model of the human head, which is learned from a large dataset of 3D scans. It provides fine-grained control over facial identity (170 head and 80 teeth components), expressions (383 components, with a range of -3 to +3) and head pose. @aiseomastery Yep it's a big one. 82,000 total scans :) But the big thing about this is unlike nearly all other Gen AI we have actually got full consent from everyone involved and paid them for their scans so zero scraped / stolen data.

@Ten_24 I’ve purchased several sets of Head Scans data from 3D Scanstore for reference, and they’ve been extremely helpful. However, I was disappointed that there wasn’t much data for Asian faces. Will this project include a comprehensive selection of scan data for Asian faces?

Yeah me too! unfortunately to do this properly you need a lot more than just a few parametric face shapes. Humans face shapes are wildly different, we spent about a year and a half scanning people every single day monday to friday 9 to 5 paying every single participant building a city centre scanning location. We had 12 staff including security 2 hair and makeup, scanning techs front of house etc etc. Its a massive undertaking for a little studio like ours but now we have the data we can build something that actually works :)

@Q8fzdvOHIep69NB No I'm afraid not. Our dataset is highly controlled and curated with full informed consent with paid participation and based on modern day understanding of AI and ML. We can't accept anything that's older than a few years or doesn't meet our GDPR and data protections guidelines.

@Ten_24 Are you willing to accept submitted topological meshes for training?
