BLACK AMERICANS WE HAVE POWER: The #republican war isn’t against #Democrats, it’s against #BlackAmericans who so happen to vote in high numbers for Democrats! The main thing the #CongressionalBlackCaucus and #NAACP are asking from #Blackathletes connected to #SEC and other Southern powerhouse schools is this: Reconsider committing to certain schools: They are urging top Black recruits to avoid committing to public universities in states they believe are weakening Black voting representation through redistricting. Use athlete influence publicly Current athletes are being encouraged to speak out on voting rights, fair district maps, and political representation using their platforms, interviews, and #NIL influence. Consider transfers or #boycotts Some campaign messaging suggests athletes could: transfer schools, refuse nationally televised events, or participate in broader athletic boycotts if states continue policies they view as suppressing Black political power. Redirect money and support Fans, alumni, and donors are being asked to stop buying tickets, merchandise, and donating to targeted athletic programs, and instead support #HBCU’s or #votingrights organizations. Pressure universities and conferences to act: The groups argue universities and conferences like the Southeastern Conference benefit heavily from Black athletes financially but have stayed mostly silent on voting-rights issues. The #CBC reportedly sent letters to conference commissioners and the #NCAA demanding public engagement. The campaign is being called “Out of Bounds.” It was launched after recent legal and political fights over congressional redistricting in several Southern states following the #SupremeCourt’s #Louisiana v. Callais ruling. The targeted states mentioned in reporting include: #Texas #Georgia #Florida #Alabama #Louisiana #Mississippi #SouthCarolina #Tennessee Supporters describe the effort as a modern #civilrights pressure campaign similar to past athlete activism. Critics argue it unfairly puts pressure on student-athletes and universities over political disputes.

And guess what, I am still successfully registering a good number of people to vote on a weekly basis. Additionally, two of my little cousins, one who was headed to University of Texas at Austin, and the other to Texas A&M, are now both bringing their talents to Prairie View A&M University. Yea we not stopping!!!

@denise_bar90994 @atrupar Drawing congressional districts based on race is unconstitutional! If you need to win based on your skin color and not on your ideas, something is wrong!

Mike Johnson defends egregiously gerrymandered maps like the new one in Tennessee, but then in the very next breath claims the Virginia map that was struck down "was a hastily drawn gerrymander that was unconstitutional"

Democrats must take on the modern day Dred Scott Court. South Carolina is eliminating the only Black majority seat. Term limits on Justices now. Expand the Court from 9 to 13 Justices.

The NAACP is not out of line by asking Black student athletes to not participate in the South’s College Sports programs. These racists want to use Black talent and Black culture while also saying Black lives don't matter and Black history should be banned and/or whitewashed. Shut up and perform for us has been a recurring theme. Thomas Wiggins a blind autistic musical prodigy born enslaved was one of the most famous pianists in the 19th century. His enslavers exploited him, holding public concerts when he was only eight years old. His enslavers continued to exploit him by holding concert after concert with the proceeds going to the Confederacy and his enslavers. He was marketed as a “Barnum-style freak" advertising the transformation from animal to artist. He was frequently compared to a bear, baboon, or mastiff. Thomas Wiggins died penniless on June 13, 1908 despite being one of the highest paid musicians of the 19th century and earning the modern day equivalent of millions of dollars. #BlackHistoryWithLana #DemsUnited

@LqLana No one is saying "Black lives don't matter and Black history should be banned and/or whitewashed," They are saying racially separate congressional districts are no different from racially separate "but equal" schools!

The 1965 Voting Rights Act was landmark legislation to stop states from diluting the vote of minorities - most notably Black voters in the South who had been systematically disenfranchised. Last month, the US Supreme Court gutted it. Today, Michigan became the first state in the country since that ruling to hold a legislative hearing on state level legislation to enshrine those rights. I was proud to cosponsor these bills and vote them out of committee.

@rolandsmartin The idea that people who are not black cannot play basketball and football is racist! The NAACP is simply taking away opportunities from black youth and giving them to people who are not black all because they are obsessed with skin color!

@ajc Then those racist officials need to rethink their racist ways. I'm sick of their racism going unchecked. The worst racism I ever experienced was by them.
