This is what the CCP does. Take. Intimidate. Repeat. Then call it a "core interest." At what point does the world stop calling this a "dispute" and start calling it what it is — an illegal occupation backed by military force?

China didn't send diplomats. It sent a navy. The international tribunal ruled in the Philippines' favor in 2016. China ignored it. Now it's declared the shoal a Chinese "nature preserve" — occupying someone else's waters and filing the paperwork afterward.

This is how China's maritime aggression against Philippines looks like! A PLA Navy warship. 6 Coast Guard vessels. 20 Maritime Militia boats. All deployed against Filipino fishermen in the Philippines' own waters.

This is the actual and legitimate demarcation of China's Exclusive Economic Zone in the South China Sea mandated by UNCLOS. China is a signatory of UNCLOS. If China really respects international laws as it claims, it must not invade the EEZ of other nations.

The majority of fishing vessels operating inside the EEZs of Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, Chile & other South American nations, are from China. Each of vessels haul tons of squids each day & can remain in seas for months, offloading their catch on refrigerated cargo ships.

Chinese illegal fishing has caused in over 70% decline in Giant Squid population in the Peruvian waters! China's government subsidized fishing fleets are causing havoc in South America!

Many fish populations in Africa are heavily exploited, to the point of possible collapse, which would spell disaster for impoverished coastal communities.

In West Africa, an area known to be rife with illegal fishing, the Chinese bottom trawl fleet catches an estimated 2.35 million tonnes of seafood every year – by some estimates, around half of China's total distant-water catch – valued at over US$ 5 billion.

Many vessels went dark simultaneously, raising alarms about intelligence gathering and ocean mapping. Moreover, these fleets have been accused of damaging smaller fishing vessels, aiding in the protection of artificial islands, and disrupting licensed oil rigging activities.

In June 2025, the Philippine Coast Guard reported more than 50 Chinese maritime militia vessels “swarming” Rozul Reef within the Philippines’ EEZ. Between 2021 and 2023, Ecuador tracked around 510 Chinese fishing boats operating near the Galápagos EEZ.

Chinese distant water fishing boats sail in large numbers alongside refuelling ships, allowing them to loiter at sea for months. These fishing fleets frequently manoeuvre with the Chinese Coast Guard (CCG) and People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) warships trailing behind.

IUU fishing describes an array of harmful fishing practices, including vessels & fishermen who break fisheries laws & regulations & harmful practices in EEZs or international waters where no state or international body has yet imposed restrictions for responsible management

Instead, the United States and its allies should champion the sovereignty of partner nations through law enforcement efforts such as shiprider, bilateral, and information-sharing agreements.

China’s distant-water fleet poses a growing transnational threat to security around the world. This challenge cannot be effectively countered through traditional means alone.

This is certainly not industrial fishing. This is Chinese state sponsored plundering & invasion. No single nation is cable of stopping this carnage. A taskforce to counter Chinese fishing militia has to up!

China is pillaging the waters of South America at an unimaginable rate. Each day, hundreds of Chinese fishing vessels capable of lifting tons of fish, plunder the scarce fishing resources in the territorial waters of Argentina, Peru, Ecuador & Chile. This is going on for years!

This comes let than a month after South Korea seized six Chinese fishing vessels operating illegally in it's territorial waters!

The boats entered South African waters without permits & repeatedly switched their AIS on & off. The four Chinese-flagged fishing vessels, Zhong Yang 231, Zhong Yang 232, Zhong Yang 233, & Zhong Yang 239, entered the country’s EEZ twithout the required authorization.

Well-done South Africa! South African authorities have intercepted and fined four Chinese distant-water fishing vessels engaging in illegal fishing.
