Today, we remember the generations who fought for the right to vote—a right our ancestors sacrificed, marched, & endured great struggle to secure. Voting is more than a civic duty; it’s a testament to their resilience and the power of our voices in shaping a just future.

If We Must Die by Claude McKay. One of the greatest poems in literary history. Take a few minutes to read this powerful poem written during the Harlem Renaissance and influenced by the writings and scholarship of W.E.B. DuBois.
If We Must Die
If we must die, let it not be like hogs
Hunted and penned in an inglorious spot,
While round us bark the mad and hungry dogs,
Making their mock at our accursèd lot.
If we must die, O let us nobly die,
So that our precious blood may not be shed
In vain; then even the monsters we defy
Shall be constrained to honor us though dead!
O kinsmen! we must meet the common foe!
Though far outnumbered let us show us brave,
And for their thousand blows deal one death-blow!
What though before us lies the open grave?
Like men we’ll face the murderous, cowardly pack,
Pressed to the wall, dying, but fighting back!
—The poem entered the lexicon of those versed in great literature and poetry in the English language.
It gained world fame after being quoted by Sir Winston Churchill to inspire the British in the Second World War.—

#IndependenceDay As we acknowledge the birth of the United States, we are reminded that the journey toward true freedom is ongoing. The strongest voice we have is our collective power to vote to make social change for the nation.
We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Hall of Famer Willie Mays, one of the most exciting all-around players in the history of our sport.
Mays was a two-time MVP, 24-time All-Star, 12-time Gold Glove Award winner, and a recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
In commemoration of "The Catch" as perhaps the most famous play in the history of the Fall Classic, the World Series MVP Award was named in his honor in 2017.
Mays was 93 years old.
