The Dickensian world of publishing. Until the royalties on this book reach £30 I will not be paid them. Since the book came out in 1992 and my last share of royalties was 59p, it is unlikely this will ever happen. Where will it go in the end?

Very emotional after finishing what I'm calling the 'Soul Edit' of my flapping novel yesterday. 71,000 words of dialect edited in 100s of longhand pages, but I can't measure the ways in which I feel I'm stepping forward in my craft thanks to @bookishelise's wonderful guidance...

@JackArthurs @BloodaxeBooks Wow. That is a priceless item, memento of the excellent production by @maxluke4 of the play of the book starring among others the young Robson Green and the start of my writing life under the tutelage of the late great #Alan Plater. A Proustian item indeed!
