A missile strike on Camp Canada in Kuwait took place March 1st. We are just finding out about it now - not from the government but from La Presse. This is not being accountable on part of the Prime Minister. This is not being responsible on part of the Prime Minister. “As head of government, the Prime Minister has special responsibilities for national security, federal-provincial- territorial relations and the conduct of international affairs.” That’s straight from the foundational document of the Liberal government, “Open and Accountable Government, 2015”. For the PM to withhold information and then say, “I'm not the only spokesperson for the government” on a matter that involves an attack on Canadian Armed Forces members is a shirking of his responsibility. It is not just shameful; it is wrong. Peu de choses ont changé avec le gouvernement libéral à Ottawa. Il y a quatre ans, lorsque la guerre en Ukraine a commencé, les conservateurs ont exhorté le gouvernement libéral à agir pour approuver et construire de nouveaux pipelines de GNL afin que le Canada puisse exporter vers des alliés comme l’Allemagne et remplacer le gaz russe, tout en stimulant la croissance ici même, à domicile. Le gouvernement a refusé d’agir. En conséquence, l’Allemagne a été contrainte de signer des contrats à long terme avec le Qatar pour acheter du GNL, et le Japon a été contraint de signer des contrats à long terme avec la Russie. Little has changed with the Liberal government in Ottawa. Four years ago, when the war in Ukraine began, Conservatives called on the Liberal government to take action to approve and build new LNG pipelines so Canada could export to allies like Germany and displace Russian gas, while at the same time increasing growth here at home. The government refused to take action. As a result, Germany was forced into signing long-term contracts with Qatar to purchase LNG and Japan was forced into signing long-term contracts with Russia. Now another war has broken out, this time in the Middle East. Qatari LNG shipments to Germany have been cut off, and Russia is taking advantage of the situation by rerouting oil and gas exports to benefit from higher prices, helping fund its war effort in Ukraine. Eight months have passed since Parliament gave the government extraordinary new powers in C-5 to expedite the approval and construction of new infrastructure, such as LNG export facilities. Despite the passage of four years and Bill C-5, little has changed. Canada still has no new approved LNG export facilities. And our closest allies are forced to purchase oil and gas from authoritarian states in unstable parts of the world. And the Canadian economy continues to struggle, with GDP shrinking in two of the last three quarters. #cdnpoli

It’s been 4 years since war began in Ukraine & 4 years since we called on the gov’t to expedite LNG exports. It’s been 8 months since Parliament gave gov’t new powers to expedite LNG projects. To date no new LNG projects. And now Iran war constraining LNG/oil supply. #cdnpoli

The belly of this ship holds $250 million of LNG. It should be Canadian. When I unblock our resources, it will be Canadian.
