Down to minus 17 degrees at 7.15 this morning here at Hartree - our lowest temperature since 2009 (when it reached -21 degrees).

@theiaincameron You are correct Iain. Kilima means hill or mountain in Kiswahili and Njaro is ‘whiteness’ in the local language of the Chagga so to say Mount Kilimanjaro is a tautology.

‘Mount’ Kilimanjaro, like ‘Mount’ Snowdon, seems like ugly tautology. Apparently is quite common nowadays, but when did this happen? I was raised with it being simply Kilimanjaro.
