@infosecjeff @lippyent Ain't no way GNR is anywhere near one of the Top 4 American bands. Allman Brothers, Lynyrd Skynyrd (pre-crash ONLY), Van Halen, CCR, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, The Ramones, KISS, The Grateful Dead, R.E.M., Heart, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Black Crowes, The Beach Boys...

@lippyent First of all this is a US Monument. We need these to be 4 of the best US Rock Bands, Eagles, Aerosmith, Heart, Guns N' Roses. If the theme was UK bands then the 4th would be Deep Purple.

@TJWieger3et @lippyent Boston wasn't really a band. It was Tom & Brad. Tom did all of the instruments on almost all of the songs. Drums, bass, keys, and guitars. The live shows used hired guns who got their photos on the albums, but they didn't play on the tracks (other than Jim on one song).

@lippyent First I would get rid of the stones and Beatles and put Skynard inthere with bob Seger and Boston, just my preference

@Bamcdaniel77 @lippyent Not even Top 100. Great drummer, maybe the best ever. Front man who can't sing and can only write the same basic syncopated rhythmic pattern for the verses of every song's lyrics. Slightly better than mediocre guitarist.

@RealDealYup @Wes_Macc @Super70sSports It's been generally accepted and more or less confirmed using advanced film analysis. It's the same kind of analysis that revised Secretariat's time at the Preakness to give him the stakes record there.

On this Kentucky Derby day, here’s your reminder that Secretariat was faster than any horse who has ever lived. The year is 1973 and this is his track record run. Untouched for 53 years. The GOAT.

@BlueCollarStorm @Super70sSports Secretariat would have ran whatever time he needed to beat Man 'O War. Turcotte said Big Red still had gas in the tank at the end of the Belmont. He had to hold him back and force him to cool down after finishing 31 lengths ahead of the rest of the field.

@MichaelGrClark @Super70sSports Not true — three horses have run the Derby in under 2:00. Secretariat (1:59.40), Sham (~1:59.9 estimated only), and Monarchos (1:59.97). Monarchos gets forgotten, but he’s in the sub‑2:00 club too — and yes, he’s a Secretariat descendant.

@L1_C_4 @Super70sSports Sham wasn't the only other horse in the Belmont. Secretariat beat Sham by 2 1/2 lengths at both the Derby and the Preakness. He beat the entire field by 31+ lengths in the Belmont.

@CitizenScreen Why did you use Neil Leifer's photo (with the color all out of whack) of Ali over Sonny Liston from the 1965 fight in Lewiston, Maine?

On October 30, 1974, 32-year-old Muhammad Ali became boxing’s heavyweight champion of the world for the second time when he knocked out 25-year-old champ George Foreman in the eighth round of the “Rumble in the Jungle.” #OnThisDay

@EricSloss1383 @Super70sSports This video shows Secretariat setting a Kentucky Derby record that has held up for 53 years so far. The amazing second place horse picked a bad year to be born.

@EricSloss1383 @Super70sSports In order to win by 2 1/2 lengths from last place, Secretariat ran each quarter faster than the previous. He accelerated through the entire race, which is a remarkable demonstration of his athleticism.

@DevinBrightblad @EricSloss1383 @Super70sSports I think you misunderstood my comment. I wasn't challenging your "case". I was pointing out that even when the other entrants at the Derby threw in the towel and the top 3 raced against fresher competition at the Preakness, they were still really only racing against each other.

@MichaelGrClark @EricSloss1383 @Super70sSports Yeah that helps my case. Secretariat was so dominant he scared away everyone else. Only 6 horses entered the Preakness. How is this not a display of Secretariat’s greatness. No one doubts that Belmont was Secretariat’s finest hour, you’re comparing dominance to a miracle.

@EricSloss1383 @Super70sSports How many horses have won the Derby after being in last place starting down the backstretch? From 15-20 lengths behind? Secretariat never hit full speed in the Derby. He was just playing with the rest of the field, still winning it after a near disastrous start.

@Super70sSports Interesting. He really didn't dominate the race like Belmont. He didn't come on until late. This is definitely not the video to use to show Secretariat's greatness. Heck of a horse though.

@DevinBrightblad @EricSloss1383 @Super70sSports And the result was exactly the same at the Preakness, even though Secretariat, Sham, & Our Native were the only three horses in the Preakness to have run the Derby two weeks earlier. The rest of the field at the Preakness were fresh. The rest of the field at the Derby didn't run.

@EricSloss1383 @Super70sSports What? Just because he didn’t pull off the greatest great escape ever seen? He won the derby decisively, Sham was only close in comparison to the rest of the pack, Sham lost by 2 1/2 lengths and Our Native was at least 4 to 5 lengths behind Sham.

@Wes_Macc @Super70sSports And Sham knocked two teeth out getting out of the starting gate! He still ran the only other sub 2 minute time in Derby history!

@Super70sSports You have to feel for Sham. Even though he blew his wind in the third race trying to stay with Big Red, if Secretariat never entered then Sham was a sure fire Triple Crown winner.
