Don’t ever let anyone tell you that you’re bad at your art. Art is subjective. Some may like it, some may not. It should not stop you from making it. All the point they mentioned doesn’t even make sense cause I’m looking at it and I disagree with them completely! And backgrounds can be anything it’s not necessary for them to be absolutely full blown scenery pieces, it can be a simple gradient or texture. Sometimes it’s even preferred. And by the way I’m super bad at backgrounds, I don’t even spend much time on them cause I’m focused on characters and that’s what matters to me. Besides artists can’t be good at everything all at once. Some only do great backgrounds, detailed, lush and mind blowing but can’t do proper character designs, some are the opposite to that. Your art is gorgeous, please don’t let their comments get to you.
And it doesn’t matter if they are artist too, they purposely chose to be rude online, the only thing that will allow them to learn is to “taste their own medicine”. Next time someone says something rude openly to you (hope it will never happen again) - call them out publicly, they deserved it.
@MichaelRusakov it was part of my insecurity saying and I do admit that Im weak with backgrounds but you saying my art is far from mid just made my day😭 I was about to not cover their name, but they are also a vgen artist so dont want to ruin their career, hoping them learn the lesson tho
Please dont do this. I know that my art isnt that good yet and I will improve. I didnt ask about your opinion about my art. I was simply sharing the method I use to get my first client

@WirenthReylarVT That’s awful! Not only they refused to work with you on fixing what you paid for but you can’t even fix it yourself now. Maybe you could at least ask cmo3 files (if, of course, you’ll find a way to contact them) since they left you with no fixes, so you could salvage it.
Hi everyone, I didn't want to make a post like this, but I'm left with no other real option at this point, as people need to be made aware.
As most people are aware, I have a Live 2D model that was rigged by grimoirevt / grimm / CyberPhantomsTV to the cost of $1,200. (1/11)
@WirenthReylarVT Yeah those are not that major, from what I understand and could be easily fixed with a few tweaks. Of course depending on how he rigged it in the first place.
Did he ended up giving you cmo3 files or only moc3?
@MichaelRusakov There were quite a few, and some of them were fixed, but not enough since we were left with 15 at the end
I've attached a few here, you can see the shoulder clipping, issues with the elbow clipping, the back of the cloak missing (being able to see the background through it)
@MichaelRusakov wait that's so beautiful 😭 I didn't realize it could leave that kind of impact but if it helps someone believe in their work then I'm happy to do it again and again 🥹✨
me: pays $20 for a $5 cxmm because the art is genuinely good
artist: WAIT IS THIS OKAY?? CAN I DRAW YOU MORE???
me: wha-??? no???? you already earned it???
I am once again asking to adopt every underpaid artist on this planet ʲᵒᵏⁱⁿᵍ ᵇᵘᵗ ⁿᵒᵗ ʲᵒᵏⁱⁿᵍ
it really puts into perspective how undervalued artists are, and it honestly makes me a little sad how unusual fair (or generous) pay feels for so many artists... 💔
Totally valid point! Though their “4” might not be “4” for me or for you. That’s why it’s important to clarify why you specifically gave out a 4. Let’s say it was because they didn’t like the way Artist was communicating (either long waiting for answers or it took days to reply), that’s a no problem for me, I’d see that in the review and know that for me it’s totally okay, I’d still commission this artist. But if it’s something about missing deadlines, receiving the art weeks after the deadline - that might be a deal break for me. Leaving 4 with no explanation leaving it up to everyone’s imagination to fill in the blanks, and people usually imagine the worst.
@MichaelRusakov@tommysonline That review doesn't say everything was perfect. Maybe it took longer than expected of cost more they they liked. Maybe there's issues that are personal to them and they don't want to start drama so they just give a 4 and move on with their life
i am not trying to be rude in any way and no hate to op at all but i really just don’t see the point of a review system on vgen from a buyer’s standpoint if everyone has 100% perfect 5 star reviews
Did you ask them why they did that? What was wrong? Did they give ANY explanation why they lowered it? Cause it doesn't make sense. If you decided to spend your time to rate the service, write a review and lower it to 4 stars - you have to explain why and add it in the review, otherwise just make it 5, what's the point.
Just saw a post of someone waiting their comms for 2 years and thought it was crazy… now this?!?! 4 YEARS?! What is up with people?! It’s honestly wild seeing artists with a steady flow of commissions and supportive clients completely sabotage their own careers through bad communication, ghosting, and irresponsibility. What a waste of talent.
I was so patient with neon, I considered him a homie. I gave him the benefit of the doubt, but he gave up, he broke his promise, he doesn't have a job, he's living from his family's and friends' money, and his ''manager'' doesn't know anything either, except that exact info.
So, everyone who was still waiting for their commission until now won't get it back.
I’m sorry, anything that takes longer than 6 months is a scam. I don’t care about what reasons they come up with, life is difficult or health problems… if you take a commission, take money and don’t send your client what they paid for - you’re a scammer. You absolutely can find time to finish a commission within a few months. And if you can’t - you shouldn’t take a commission in the first place. ANYONE who says “oh life is hard” or “I have health problems” are manipulating and guilt tripping you.
I do comms for 10+ years and I’ve never made my clients wait more than a month or two even on most difficult animations, and people are waiting for their static chibis for 2 years?!?!?!
