If you know the real gospel, and you know true Christianity, you can spot a fake a mile away. Deceptive words deceive the unsuspecting. That is why we must always be on our guard to contend for the faith once for all given.

@colinjfast I preached through the first 11 chapters of Genesis. Pointed out all the first things in the Bible. Wanted to put first things first. The sovereignty of God over all things.

Pastor, when you were first installed at your church, what did you preach through? Why?

@colinjfast I knew it! I saw it coming as I observed your posts from my little neck of the woods. Praise God. It was a matter of time. Christian Focus is losing (sending is a better term) a great one. A heart to pray, preach, & shepherd God’s flock will find an outlet in His kind providence.

Somewhere deep inside, in a place you don’t speak of, is a desire only satisfied in Christ. We don’t know what the hurry is or what we’re trying to get. We only find true rest in Christ, governed by His Word. You need a heart rightsized by God, refocused to absolute truth.

We are living in a climate where human polls are used to ignore absolute truth & people’s changing opinions are valued over God’s eternal Word.

You may have started or restarted a daily practice of prayer and Bible reading. It’s a good start. Discipline yourself with humble heart-level godliness. Daily effort in things good for your eternal soul are the best investment because they last beyond this life. 1 Tim. 4:7-8.

Christian, you have a choice to make: be a selfish brand builder or a sincere people builder. Your brand may succeed but you may generate anger and suspicion, not love and joy. Or take the harder route and seek to build people up. Your brand may suffer but you will bless others.

Mercy triumphs over judgment. Christian, when you count it all joy when you encounter various trials, you bank on God’s mercy. You enjoy it and become merciful. The merciless don't count trials as joy. Mercy lovers understand providence.

@dalepartridge Dale, yes, absolutely sad. But not hating liberalism enough? We don’t love Jesus enough, pray for repentance enough, preach gospel enough, call out lies enough. Hate evil (Ps. 97:10, Prov. 8:13) yet love people enough to speak truth in love.

Christian, when pain of loss, injury, betrayal, sin’s consequence hits your soul, drags you down, rest in Jesus’ presence, hear His Word, receive His comfort, relish His mercy. He providentially orchestrates life, carries you, and will bring you safely home to eternal glory.

Jesus chose me, I did not choose Him. John 15:16 says so! Election and predestination are the sovereign work of God. I am thankful it does not depend on man, but on God who has mercy. Rom 9 tells us. Believers trust the shed blood of Christ our substitute because Jesus chose us.

@DrFrankTurek With all due respect, Dr. Turek, I do not think I’m better than anyone, but believe you are wrong here. Let us not take lightly the doctrine of God’s grace in saving sinners. If we take the Bible in context, according to authorial intent, we get God’s sovereign choice in saving.

@drandrewmking Wondrously beautiful. A SoCal resident my entire life, I see God’s glory more and more in the gospel when I open His Word, and when I observe the beauty He built into His creation everywhere on earth, especially CA, with its trees, trails, rivers, lakes, ocean, snow, and more.

Septillions of snowflakes fall annually around the world, most of which are never seen by a single creature. Each snowflake is unique. Each one proclaims the majesty of their Creator.

Cross-cultural ministry is not a specialized task reserved for a few. It is essential for every church that wants to be faithful to the Great Commission. Our world has become so globalized that the nations are no longer far away; they are living next door. zambiahunt.com/2025/12/01/why…

Possessing a Heart of Gratitude by J.C. Ryle Is your heart right? Then be thankful. Praise the Lord for His distinguishing mercy, in “calling you out of darkness into His marvelous light.” (1 Pet. 2:9). Think what you were by nature. Think what has been done for you by free undeserved grace. Your heart may not be all that it ought to be, nor yet all that you hope it will be. But at any rate your heart is not the old hard heart with which you were born. Surely the man whose heart is changed ought to be full of praise.

Flashback: A question I often receive is this one: “Can you give me some advice on writing a book review?” ...I typically use a loose formula that I think can be helpful and that often resonates with readers. challies.com/articles/how-i…
