I think this really gets to the heart of Chelsea’s problems. There’s simply a lack of connection between fans, players and then the wider club. Poch started fixing that, Maresca picked it up to an extent but it is back to square one after this season.

I don’t think people really understand the significance of hearing that it was Poch’s decision to walk away from Chelsea. In modern football, you don’t often see managers take that kind of step. The working environment must have been unbearable. Then Maresca does the same. Potter also alluded to the environment being detrimental to what he was trying to do, whether any of them were the right man for Chelsea is a separate question. What I’m trying to say is that this “revolutionary project” has been so badly thought out and executed that managers who aren’t even justifiably at Chelsea’s level have decided they would rather walk away than operate under Eghbali, Winstanley, Stewart and Shields. I find it astonishing that there are still people who believe these guys might come good. Whoever the next manager is won’t change the fact we’re owned by private equity and have sporting directors like Winstanley, Stewart and Shields running things.

The fact nobody other than Rosenior has been sacked actually makes me sick. It’s a crime.

Paul Scholes: “Other than the [Chelsea] owners, nobody else in and around football thought Liam Rosenior was the right person for Chelsea. It was just crazy for me."

🚨 EXCL via @siphillipssport (SPTC)🗣️: Chelsea’s manager search is starting to reveal something deeper than just names… • Xabi Alonso is interested — but not convinced • Initial talks already happened via agents • Andoni Iraola also contacted (same agency link) But here’s the key tension: 👉Alonso wants more control than what Chelsea FC are currently offering. And he’s NOT alone — other candidates are asking the same questions: → What’s the actual project? → Who controls recruitment? → How much authority does the coach really have? This is where it gets interesting tactically + financially: Chelsea’s model = data-driven, multi-club, recruitment-led Top coaches like Alonso = identity-driven, control-heavy systems That clash is the real “sticking point.” Right now: • Alonso is open to talks • But would need serious convincing to accept • Face-to-face interviews are next This isn’t just about hiring a coach anymore… It’s about deciding: 👉 Do Chelsea adapt to the coach? 👉 Or force the coach into the system?

Chelsea have now made contact with Andoni Iraola over the manager position… ✅
