Not happy. Censorship isn’t the way. I gave money to IU general fund for the IDS last year, so they could pay everyone and not run a deficit. I gave more than they asked for. I told them I’m happy to help because the IDS is important to kids at IU
Indiana Daily Student@idsnews

IU previously directed the Indiana Daily Student to stop printing news coverage in our paper. Upon pushback, IU fully cut print, including our special editions. The IDS was not involved in the decision. Letter from the editors to come.

This now extends to any college in Texas. If you're a student or faculty member and want to talk about your thoughts on the crackdown on discussions of trans identity in Texas college classrooms, my signal is kissphoria.57.
gwen howerton@kissphoria

If you're a student at Angelo State University (or know one!!) with thoughts on the school's new policy barring discussions of transgender identity in classrooms, I'd love to talk to you for a story I'm working on. DM me on here, or find me on Signal at kissphoria.57

New in @chron: Hundreds of LGBTQ+ related books were apparently dumped at Texas A&M's office of Surplus Property. The university didn't respond when I asked why or how they ended up there. Books range from LGBTQ+ memoirs to academic texts: chron.com/culture/articl…

💕 I'm sharing this with permission from the family and with help from our friends at Hillier Funeral Home. Remember, friends, the 988 lifeline is a number for everyone. It's free, judgment-free, and compassionate support for everyone 24/7/365. You can call or text it. 💕 “On Friday, July 25, 2025, Aggieland lost one of its brightest lights. As the sun rose over Lake Bryan in all its peaceful beauty, Zane W. Shamblin left this world. That morning, the sky held more than the colors of a summer sunrise; it held the weight of goodbye to a son, a brother, a grandson, a loyal friend, and a proud Aggie. Zane was a graduate of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Class of 2024 and had just completed his studies at the Mays Business School, Class of 2025. He was the kind of person who made an impact without even trying. He was brilliant, kind, and compassionate. He was the smartest person in the room, but never made anyone feel small. He listened, he cared, and he showed up for people, even when he was struggling to show up for himself. He carried many titles in his short life. He was a son, grandson, brother, friend, a military brat, and an Aggie. He was all of these things, and he carried them all with quiet strength. Zane didn’t just wear the Aggie ring — he lived its values: respect, excellence, leadership, loyalty, integrity, and selfless service. But behind his incredible achievements and gentle spirit was a pain few could see. Zane’s life ended by suicide, a reminder of the battles so many fight silently. He was just 23 years old, and though his years were few, they were filled with meaning, laughter, and love. Losing Zane in this way does not define him, but it reminds us how important it is to talk about mental health, to check in on each other, to speak up when things feel heavy, and to never assume someone is okay just because they’re smiling. Zane was deeply loved, fervently prayed over, and cherished more than words can hold — and he always will be. As we hold his memory close, may we also hold one another closer. May we remember that asking for help is not a weakness, but courage. And may we honor Zane by being the kind of community he believed in. May we be a community where no one walks alone. Zane's family invites you to visit Zane’s memorial site at Lake Bryan. Whether you sit in silence, share a story, leave a letter, or just breathe, we hope it becomes a space where healing begins and where his spirit continues to be felt even in the warmth of the sun and the stillness of the water. Forever 23. Forever an Aggie. Forever loved.”
